Go to the gym and lift some weights too. I'm not saying that you need to be a muscle man, just that it will help you to feel healthier and burn more fat (the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn). I would advise the same to any girls in your situation. Anyway, take a class/get advice from a trainer about a good program. It will make all the difference to how you look and feel. It will also get you in the habit of exercising instead of going home to eat, and this will help to keep the weight off and keep you happy.
The other thing you might want to think about is your attitude. I don't know if this is your situation, but often people who are worried about their weight come across as defensive or not confident or bitter. When you talk to girls, make sure not to talk about your weight or your problems with picking up girls. Do your best to be entertaining and keep things light-hearted. I have a couple of close guy friends who are larger and they are great people, but always sabotage themselves with girls by talking about their problems getting girls. It makes them sound bitter and as if they don't like women. It also makes them sound like failures. Don't do that because it will put women off.
Finally, you clearly are having trouble organizing your lifestyle so that you don't gain weight. Try getting an interest so that you are not finishing work and then looking forward to eating. I personally find that when I am happy and engaged with a hobby, I am not thinking about food. Get into the habit of having stuff to do outside work and you will be happier and think about food less. but keep in mind that loosing weight is not just to attract a mate. it also an indication to make you as an individual a healthier person.
But if a girl likes you even if you are consider over weight then wouldn't that make her more special because she accepts you and like you for your personality and not physical appearance?
and some girls are attracted to confidence so even if you are over weight if you have good confidence then I don't see what would limit your chance of a date?
so if you do plan to loose weight--loose it for yourself to be healthy and loose it because you want to live a healthier life and not loose it because you want to attract a mate. Do it for yourself. and not for any other people.
and I guess honest opinion some and certain people are more shallow then others so what you said might be possible but it all depends on what type of girls you are after.

If your motivation is to lose weight to get girls, then lose weight to get girls! that's your OWN motivation..
YESS you will get more attention from the opposite sex.. certainly won't get less attention.
No girls like fat guys, they may like your personality, blah blah, but at the end of the day, they may just tolerate your body..
SO why would you want to keep something that's a hinderance to the opposite sex...
So yeah, do what you have to do, lose that weight for the RIGHT reasons of getting girls. If you get happier and more confidence along the way then so be it...
Confidence brother. I was always muscular in high school but, time and massive alcohol consumption in college has changed my appearance. My ex of nearly 5 years did leave me because she doesn't like fat guys, but that's a story for another day. I have a killer personality and don't seem to have an issue attracting girls despite being a bit overweight. A persons heart and soul don't change with appearance (well, maybe my whore ex girlfriends) and weight will come and go. But what you have to offer, will never change. Keep your heart open, your mind strong, and your confidence up like the most interesting man in the world. Good luck my friend.

well I think that you shouldn't have to change yourself. Be comfortable in how you feel and see yourself. You should change because you want to do something for yourself. someone will like you for you, don't harm your body so much just to try to please other people. I'm bigger and I like bigger guys but if they don't accept me for my body then I don't bother.
