I don't think that they were thinking that you were a fool. It's just that its not everyday that you see someone do something like that. If i saw someone doing that I would have looked in your direction would have been like "What the hell?" and then carry on with the rest of my day. Any glances that people may have gave you were probably just curiosity looks because people always tend to look at things that aren't commonly seen (which in your case is studying flashcards while on the treadmill). Just remember that all of the bad things that you are thinking are usually in your head and as humans we always tend to think things are worse than they are.

Well, Its just not often you see someone studying whilst running? Im sure the exact same would happen if you were a guy doing that. its just a bit Weird is all :/.
there's nothing in your post that indicated a girl can not run and study, so i dont get why you chose the title you did.,
i swim and study. have since i was little,. too restless to sit still. so i waterproofed my books and voila... swim/ study for hours.
moving helps me focus. not hinders it.
Why, everybody has his way of studying. I used to go for a 10 km run and during running did rehursel.

I doubt anyone has seen someone go to the gym and study at the same time. If that works for you, so be it. I don't think it makes you look like a fool, just committed to your studies.
if you were studying and on the treadmill I'm sure you werent running very fast. They were probably mad cause they wanted to use it for running and were mad you were only doing 2 miles an hour.
They were confused. When they saw what you were doing a new thought bounced around in their heads and got lost in somewhere in there.
It's just something people aren't used to see, so it drawed attention.
ugh... how can u focus on both? o_O
