Notice i'm average weight and i've never been overweight in my entire life.
Diet actually can help you lose significant weight, it's just a half measure... makes more sense to do both at the same time (diet and exercise).
If you just want a specific diet, go vegetarian, paleo, or Mediterranean.

You have to work out too to get a ''fit'' body. Just eating particular foods won't make that happen.
