I just got knee surgery and I'm scared to play again... need advice?

I got knee surgery and am now cleared to play basketball again, but I'm so scared of getting hurt. i can never play to my full potential because I keep playing timid. I don't know how to get over the fear but if I don't I'm going to have to be done with basketball because no college coaches want a scared, untalented player. I know I can play better than I am because I can do the things I want to do when I'm alone in a gym or at practice. but when it comes to tournaments I can never play how I want to. what do I do?

I think this is really a matter of slowly pushing yourself to do more and more. Hopefully you have a sympathetic coach who can support you through this. Most sports are more mental than physical anyway.

Did you talk to your doctors? Did they say it will be ok? Or what the chances are if you hurt it agin?

Ask your physiotrerapist and trainer for a good and safe reintegration program and nothing will happen. And listen to your body. It will tell you if you exagerate.
