Gained weight on birth control. Do I have a better chance of him staying with me if I lose the weight?

I gained almost 20 pounds on birth control.

(only looks like 10 though)

I am now 5'8, 150 lbs

My boyfriend says I'm beautiful no matter what...and he will always love me. But like any girl, I'm still afraid that one day he will find someone hotter and leave me.

Do I have a better chance of holding on to him if I lose the weight?

I agree completely with AlyssMaddigan, but I also wanted to add that you could switch birth control pills if the weight gain is really bothering you.

If you scroll down to the very bottom box it talks about which pills are best to reduce the chance of a certain side effect. The pills that are least likely to to cause weight loss are ones with a small amount of estrogen. Maybe the one you are taking has lots of estrogen in it, like ortho-tri-cyclen? I know yaz, which is doesn't have much estrogen in it at all, made me actually lose weight. I don't know, just a thought :)

if he truly loves you he would not leave you because he found someone "hotter". true love extends far beyond 20 pounds. you would have a better chance of holding on to him if you did not have that insecurity though. if you lose weight do it for you.

There's nothing wrong in trying to look fit for your partner. I'd say go for it. But to it with regular exercise and eat properly. :p

Okay, I am going to assume you are using the birth control to prevent birth and not manage hormones when I answer this way, so if you are using it strictly for hormone management and not for sex please forgive me but..

You are providing him with condom-less sex (also assuming you both have been tested for STDs and come out clean), what more does he have to be thankful about? The weight is probably not going to be an issue unless you keep gaining and become unhealthy. Relax, enjoy yourself.. everything is going to be fine...

(And if he leaves you because of the weight, he ain't worth it..)
