Well I am slightly pudgy but I just did 55 push ups without breaking a sweat and then 100 situps immediately after so does that mean I am at least decently strong? I do at least one set of 50 pushups a day if that counts for anything.
It is a start. Do those pushups before you eat in the morning. Also keep it up and get your cardio going, that is the basis for everything. It isn't so much about quantity, I can do 200 pushups without breaking a sweat, you have to breathe correctly, otherwise you will only hurt yourself.
