Any insight or helpful tips you have for getting your tonsils (adenoids2. info for both is cool) out?

So the likelyhood of me having this surgery is like. 80% yes. I find out Friday for sure. But earlier this year I had tubes put in, and the gas they gave me, made my anxiety so bad it has scarred me for life and I'm terrified of this procidure. I just want some advice, or maybe a personal account or something cause I literally had a panic attack when my mom told me about it... help :(

Well if it makes you feel better I woke up during my tonsil removal with metal equipment shoved down my throat and I coughed out chunks of meat before the doctors restrained me and put me under again. And that is how I found out I'm resistant to some forms of anaesthetic. So it can't be worse than that.

Not even close!! I'm so sorry! Scared even more now... but still feel bad. All that happened to me was I laid down on the table, they put the gas over my face, and I started rto breathe in. But I heard loud buzzing. and it scared me. so i tried to hold my breath and scream for them "I feel funny. Help me. Help me please!" and no one listened, then I was out. But I can still hear and see everything in my mind. I shake just thinking about it haha,

Just try and relax next time. Tell yourself you need to go to sleep and close your eyes before he puts the mask on. If anything ask him to give you an anaesthetic injection beforehand to calm you. As far as I know, that's still a thing they do.

Yeh.. They mentioned something called Verset I think it was. Basically will make me loopy so I'm calm and don't remember it haha. I just struggle with the coaxing myself to sleep, It's almost like my body thinks it has to fight against it.

Yeah that should help. It shouldn't be that bad. Why are you getting the removed? Also, are you in North America? It was just found that tonsils are actually beneficial to the body and they no longer remove them here unless you get major complications

I'm in North America. I'm getting mine taken because basically they thought that I had ear problems causing ear infections and back up in my Eustachian tubes, but it turns out it was sinus issues and my tonsils continue to get all funky and shi so they decided to take them, I don't know. i dont really listen at the doctor when i hear needles and crap come up haha.

Yeah well you should give him a call and ask if this is really the only way and if it's absolutely necessary. I know you may not care right now but it's something you'll have to deal with for the rest of your life so spending a few extra minutes making sure they're not doing it just because it's easier for them or to get money out of you is worth it.

I got mine removed it hurt the most the very first day, they give you ice cream after the surgery lol but its not even worth it cause your throat will hurt so much. You can't eat any red or orange foods for like a month and it will hurt for about a month its not so bad though.

I've been dealing with the problems for it for a year now. To the point that the pain radiates down into my back and can't walk. I'd rather be in pain for a week or two then for another 4 years like this. It's affecting my school, which effects my future. And they said there are no food restrictions.. I can eat or drink whatever I want lol

that's not true you will find that out when you get surgery just watch lol but yeah get it removed mine were infected

yeh that's the problem. My body tries to fight the medicine. Like. I know that I'm supposed to relax so i try to do that but my body is like "NAH WE FIGHTIN BITCH GET UP" and yeh
