Stop staring into the blue-ish light. Especially a computer monitor which has a color temperature of typically 6500k. A lot of people use a program to lower their light temperature of their phones and computer. An application on the PC I use is called Flux. I have not found an alternative for the mobile phone.
I don't know how it works but your brain thinks the time of day by the light temperature being shown by the eyes is not for sleeping so it doesn't prepare the body for sleep.
Additionally, on the computer you are always bombarded with information overload. Gag does not help your sleep. Neither does reddit or youtube.
Don't exercise right before your sleep. It's easier to fall asleep when you're not pumped from exercise. Although, exercise at an earlier time will help tire your body to demand sleep.
I also like to do static stretches before sleep, helps me relax and maintains my flexibility.
Some other tricks I have heard are:
wearing sunglasses an hour before sleep.
Taking melatonin pills.
Masturbating.

I try to avoid high amounts of lighting late at night, and I also keep my laptop brightness on the lower side. Reading a book helps. Maybe you can try taking a walk if it's safe to convince your body it's night time (I notice it working when driving long distances at night).
I never actually have "Problems sleeping" but I do have a Problem going Back to sleep if I fall asleep too early at nite.. I wake up and like NOW, I am ready to begin my day.
I usually go on GAG and catch up with my many messages and notifications and maybe answer a few Questions. When I begin to feel sleepy again, I usually lay back down and fall out until it is time to Really Rise and shine.
If you have trouble sleeping, it could be you have a lot on your mind or you can also be so tired and wired you can be "Over tired" as they say.
Try and get yourself so tired at night that you just fall asleep more easily. I find that my days Begin very early and with being a busy beaver, by Early evening, many times during the week, I am ready for bed. Weekends are a bit different but still with the late hours, I can sleep in the next morn.
Watching some TV is also good medicine. Listening to music is another Great helpful hint.
Good luck. xx
Definitely :(( It takes me half an hour AT LEAST to fall asleep and I end up falling asleep really late, I need a lot of sleep to function so regardless of how many hours I end up getting (which is sadly usually 5-6) I end up tired anyways.

Yes I suffer badly. I have had to start taking sleeping tablets I was down to 3 hours a night. Work steps and unusual hours of work broke my limited sleep patterns.
me, i do. i don't get many hours of sleep. maybe about 5 at the max but thats with waking up a lot as well
Stop thinking about stuff. That's what's not letting me fall asleep quick at least.
I've had chronic insomnia for over four years now, melatonin helps.
