Cause I felt suicidal... But I never got seen by a doctor... Only a nurse in the accident and emergency, which the nurse checked my blood pressure/pulse oximetry. & then was sent to clinical observation ward which took forever waiting as had to see a mental health nurse and while I was waiting the other nurse asked to check my blood pressure/pulse oximetry... Again, but why though? I'm perfectly fine it was just I was feeling suicidal so don't know why they had to check twice after a few hours? As I didn't take an overdose or anything! So didn't know why I was having that done.

They performed those checks on you to see that you weren't going to collapse from drug toxins since suicidal people use them to die.
A doctors time is precious that is why they sent you to a mental health nurse first to get a preliminary diagnosis.
i think family and friends are best option for when you are suicidal the health staff probably wouldn't go above and beyond to help you emotionally like your close ones.

I work at a hospital and vitals are pretty basic on every patient. I also work in a unit that gets the suicidal patients, and we are required to do vitals every few hours and document them.

Your blood pressure increases when your stress levels are high. It could be she was checking to see if you were calming down from whatever triggered your suicidal thoughts.

Maybe just a standard thing, or to see if you were having any visible rapid changes in vitals.
