Despite what they say about all these "fat burning" foods, isn't it still just more effective to eat less?

almonds, grapefruit, avocado, coconut oil, lean proteins, egg whites, honey, flax/chia seeds, whole grains, apples, spinach, blueberries, olive oil... all claim to burn fat but what if i just didn't eat them and instead left like 500 calories of those things out.
these are what i eat every day, and im maintaining my weight, not losing it. AND i get 3 hours of cardio a day
