1. Eat a clean diet. You're on the right track already, so good for you.
2. Abs are a small muscle, so what they say is true, sitting there doing 1,000 sit ups a day and nothing else isn't going to get you far. Don't just do crunches, focus on working all of the surrounding muscles in your back as well.
3. And yes, do cardio as well. You need a good balance of cardio, weight training, and a clean diet.
Both. Cardio to lose fat and ab exercises (or strength) to gain the muscle back that cardio takes away. Vicky Justiz on YouTube has a ton of great videos to help you.
It's all about diet, read online to self educate on what odds good to eat and spend time in the grocery store reading food labels
