How to lose belly fat?

I'm trying to lose stomach fat and I'm wondering if cardio or an ab exercise would be more effective. I know you can't just target one area, but I just want to know which would be more effective. And if these aren't effective methods can you mention some.

P. S. I started cutting back on snacks and processed foods so that's not an issue. Also I only drink water.
