It depends, people love to spread misinformation as absolute fact. When for example google will say NAH M8 THATS BULLSHIT, YOU'RE BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD.
SO if someone reads all those blogs, ehh. If they do some decent research they can definitely more knowledgeable than others, I'd consider ones who devote their life and professional career to scientifically studying it, knowledgeable. The rest can be fairly knowledgeable yeah.
For the blog part.. no. If a person is in shape and looks good that says something though. They have used application and it has worked in their favor. So yeah I'm pretty open minded when it comes to what other in the fitness world have to say.
I really don't understand why I get downvoted on sensible opinions lmao
I think the girl downvoted you because you just said reading blogs doesn't make you knowledgable. But you would consider it does purely based on physical appearance.
If a skinny or out of shape guy read the same blogs and had the same knowledge, you wouldn't think he was knowledgable.
So your not judging someones knowledge based on how much they know on the subject but on if they "look" like they know about the subject.
Kind of like the question "Does reading blogs about Biology or Chemistry make you knowledgeble about the subjects?"
The equivalent of your response is :
Getting all your info from reading blogs about Biology and Chemistry, no it doesn't make you knowledgeable about them.
However if the guy looked nerdy or like a good student who would know those subjects, they look like they know what their talking about so I'll be open to it.
But if he didn't look nerdy or like a good student then i wouldn't believe him.
I think thats what got you downvoted
Or it could be an accident, never know
Um, do I think everyone who goes to college comes out incredibly smart... no... do I think everyone who reads internet blogs on health is knowledgeable... also, no... but are many people who go to college more knowledgeable... some yes, and do some who read the blogs and are able to discern the crap from the good stuff, more knowledgeable, absolutely.
How well you can tell crap from bullshit, flawed case studies from more quality ones, how much background knowledge you have to make the most of what you're reading (blog and scientific journal wise), the hows and whys the same issue can be looked at differently (whether there's a strong case for different viewpoints, or that or certain opposing viewpoints are mainly BS fads, or they just apply to different scenerios and different people), and do they think critically about the information or do they let common cognitive biases (etc.) cloud their judgement when looking for information?
How much practical experience do they have in the subject?
there's a lot of factors to consider when judging someones knowledge on these subjects.
You couldn't tell this by "looking" at them and a lot of people do this.
The most knowledgable trainer at my gym was some out of shape kind of awkard looking guy. Think Napolean Dynomite kind of awkard looking but not skinny.
He was more knowlegable (cont)
Than the frat boy , handsome, jacked / ripped trainers there. And these are personal trainers. Thats how it can work in the industry. Its just the ones that dont look good aren't likely to get hired because most people equate good physical shape with high knowledge in these subjects. So you body sells you more than your knowledge.
If you couldnt tell which trainer was more knowledgable about fitness by build, then how can the same people say an uneducated person in the subject is knowledgable because their in shape and read blogs
And i completely agree with your answer
To an extent I would say yes, there is a lot of good and reliable info on the internet, but I wouldn't treat their opinions the way I would treat a doctor's , etc.

SOO much disinformation on the Internet, sales pitches for supplements, some things are actually dangerous to your long ter health.
Probably I mean they did their research and it worked for them and if they were really smart they actually read some books too
Theydidnt read educational books, just blogs
Lol then maybe not unless their resources read books
It depends entirely on how decent the source is. Not all blogs are total bullshit.
For an average person though they can't tell the bullshit blogs from good blogs due to lack of education and coaching experience on the subject
some blogs quote the NIH and stuff. The average person can find the right information out there.
If they are fit and have proof of a transformation sure how informed they are all depends, is it broscience or facts
("is it broscience or facts")
This is one of the points. If they didn't have the education and experience background to tell broscience and fads from facts, then how credible are they?
A fitness professional could probably tell by what he says, but an average person couldnt.
More so than people who don't get nutrition knowledge from anyplace.
But in general are the knowledgable
yes they are knowledgable about the subjects
Does it change if the person isn't in shape?
Both, yes and no.
What do you mean? Explain
You can learn from those sites, but not everything found there is true.
In general yes.
Does it change if the person is out of shape or a skinny guy?
