He's just joking?

So I've recently gained about 25lbs. Going from 130 to 155 at 5'4. Husband keeps making the same rude comments about how if I keep eating I'm going to swell up, if I have a snackhe'll say what are you doing and he'll keep staring me down till I tell him I'm having a snack which I usually a yogurt or cheese or yea a cookie. Tonight after supper I had a few gram crackers he just looks at me asking me what do I think I'm doing. Yes I'm EATING I say. He'll pinch my fat and tell me that he doesn't know how much more weight I'm going to gain. Shit like that. Listen all of my life I've been too thin, to the point where mean people have accused me of having an eating disorder to being on drugs. Plus my health is terrible so I'm finally on meds that allow me to have an appetite so I can finally eat when I'm hungry. We've been together forever but I'm getting sick of his mean comments. He says he's just joking then got mad at me when I told him that hurts my feelings tonight. My question: is he actually joking or is he for real a jerk? What do y'all think?

You weren't too thin all your life if you started at 130. 132 is the max weight for a female of 5'4". You were already on the edge. Now you're overweight and pushing the edge of medical obesity. But what do the CDC and AMA know, amIright? You deserve that extra helping of beetus.

You should tell him straight up he can't get mad if you are emotionally hurt by what he is saying. What he's saying isn't doing you any good and you don't appreciate it despite him saying it's a joke. it'd be better if he encouraged you to drink more water. (I don't know) Have better health rather than joke about your weight.

omg no he's being a jerk, even if he is joking there is obviously truth behind is so he's being mean. and if he is actually concerned for you he should just tell you like a normal person instead of being MEAN and "joking" about it.

Even if he was joking, after you told him it hurts your feelings he should have apologised and stopped doing it. It sounds like he is intentionally making you feel bad and that's not what a good partner does. A good partner lifts you up, not tear you down.

More than likely he feels comfortable enough with you to joke with you about stuff you'd slap most men for. Some people poke mean for fun and don't mean too. Likely why he reacted the way he did.
