I agree, People who say Kung Fu isn't dangerous are just saying that so they can name something else and try to look smart. But I think for someone who has never taken a martial art before and is a girl, Kung Fu is what she would get the most mileage out of.
Bruce Lee was a Wing Chun user not Kung Fu, not only that but his own personal style Jeet Kune Do he created used Wing Chun as the base and combined other fighting styles and influences like boxing and fencing.
On top of that students of Jeet Kune Do are encouraged to learn other styles and combine them into Jeet Kune Do to create their own variation of it that works best for them.
I wish I could show you the movie, I don't even remember the movie it was such a long time ago we can sit up here all night and debate but what good would it do
I'm just stating what he has said and wrote he has always been a practitioner of Wing Chun and then later Jeet Kune Do which he created I even have a book which he personally wrote which states that.

Just take a self defense class. No need to specialize
I took Kung Fu, so I may be biased. I went and observed different martial arts schools before deciding on that.
I would also recommend Akido.
Get into MMA or Krav Maga. The others are worthless in an actual fight.
Krav maga it was designed and is used buy the Israel special forces aftee ww2 for hunting down Nazi and bring them to justice
from the list kung fu but Krav magra is better

Bruce Lee's writings were interesting. More of a series of random streams of consciousness than a coherent work, but well worth reading.
