Would you date a cute guy but had badly aligned teeth?

I've been told by some girls that I'm cute, and that I have a cute smile. But when I grin I think I always create a deal-breaker and scare off the ladies lol (I guess I can only laugh at this)

The bottom set are great, no problems there, but the top set are so badly aligned due to a scooter accident I had many years ago - one twisted 90 degrees and as a result I actually have 3 front teeth. To get them fixed will cost thousands (hopefully soon I can get them fixed however). They're not dirty, maybe discolored a little from smoking and coffee, but they're just really crooked.

I'm so self-conscious of my teeth that I often pull some really gay-looking smirk when laughing trying not to show them or even worse a smirk that looks like I'm pretending to find something amusing. or covering my mouth with my hand (also kinda gay too lol). Sometimes I look down or elsewhere when talking.

I am pretty popular with girls, but I can never seem to secure a proper date. So I just wondered if girls would date a guy who they thought was good-looking, but had a messed-up grin?

Don't worry I won't give up or take offense if you'll say no, but would be interesting to know what your thoughts were on this.

Personally, I love a quirky grin. =D Just keep them clean. My teeth were never all that bad to begin with, I just had an overbite and very slight crowding. But I had braces, and I hated how PERFECTLY straight they were after I got them off. I stopped wearing my retainers after a while and let my teeth shift a bit so that they would look more natural. Now they're somewhere between my before and right after braces, and I like them much better because they're more ME.

Don't be self conscious about them. Realistically, any girl who thinks your teeth are bad enough that they'd be the sole reason for turning you down, isn't a girl you want to be with anyway. A girl like that is superficial and if it's not your teeth, it'll be something else. Those kind of girls will always find some kind of physical imperfection and pick it apart and count it against you. If it's not one thing, it's another. ONE 'unattractive' physical trait is grounds for complete dismissal of all the attractive ones combined, and I'd like to know what kind of fantasy world people like that live in, that they think that's logical.

Imperfections [and who gets to decide what a person's imperfections are in the first place?] are usually some of my favorite things about people. Things that they dislike about themselves or that others find strange or unattractive are things I tend to find myself drawn to. Weird teeth, tons of freckles, one eye a different color than the other, super pale skin [or super dark], strange sense of style, uncommon hobbies or interests, unusual pets, haha. You name it. Or often I'll find myself interested in someone who is my complete opposite in all ways [style, religious beliefs, political views, social circles, hobbies/interests], because they're different from what I'm normally around.

Thanks for your answer. Especially the whole liking imperfections thing. The first time I read it I thought it sounded a little sugar coated but your right. Imperfections can make girls look more genuine and cute, supermodels by comparison just look like they're made off a factory line lol.

Haha exactly, and you're welcome. =] That's exactly what I mean though. I like people who look/act differently from what the majority see as attractive. I like people who stand out a little, or a lot. Or people who blend in with a crowd, but surprise and impress me when they speak. No sugar-coating, I promise, haha. I'm not one to say things just for the sake of saying them. '___, then she's not worth it' is a cliche, but I stand by it because I'm a big believer in being yourself.

I find confidence (NOT arrogance) in a man most appealing. I know it's hard but it's important to just be who you are and make the best out of it. Not that you shouldn't get your teeth fixed but if a girl only avoided you because of the look of your teeth would she leave you if you had some other unavoidable issue with your looks? If so, would you really want a relationship with that sort of girl?

If you have a good sense of humor, treat females like ladies (weather they are or not...you do it because you're a gentleman...not because they're a lady as I know all are NOT) and have an humble but confident attitude you're a winner and it's their loss if they can't see that.

Honestly, I think you're doing more harm to potential relationships by hiding the imperfection. You might initially choose to smile with your mouth closed but later, as you're visiting (and if you know she's noticed your teeth) mention the accident and your intent to get them fixed but don't make a big deal out of it.

Another question is where are you meeting girls? Shallow girls just looking for sex/material favors tend to hang out in different places and wear different type clothing than do the girls that would tend to make a good wife AND mother.

It's never too late for braces! My boss had them last summer and while it sucks wearing braces after jr. high it's only for a year or two (or you could get invisalign and no one will know you have braces). Or you could start telling girls that you played hockey which pretty much explains any dental issues you could have. Google Dan Carcillo, he plays for the Flyers, and in any picture where his mouth is open you'll notice the gaping hole where his two front teeth should be. Apparently he has fake teeth but never wears them, and I mean like never. WHen the team goes out to the bars downtown he's there without his teeth. I was listening to the radio last week and one of the interns on the morning show I listened to met him at a bar and didn't know who he was and didn't even realize he was missing his two front teeth until she started making out with him (apparently it was dark but I've never been in a bar that was so dark you didn't notice someone's teeth were missing).

I don't want to say that bad teeth are a deal breaker but they do get really annoying after a certain point. Kinda like if you're out to dinner or lunch with someone and they don't chew with their mouth closed. I had a girl who lived on my floor freshman year who was really nice and I loved her and all but after mid october I had to stop eating with her because I couldn't stand watching her eat.

yes...just take care of them as best as you can...try whitening them and it won't really matter. but yea some girls might be turned off but sometimes crooking teeth look good on some people...maybe even cute :) be confident and don't let it bother you or it will show...

I really think its not your teeth at all...my fiance is gorgeous, buff and his relationships before me were just that- didn't last long...oh his teeth are not that good either. It really comes down to meeting a girl that's into you for more than just EYE CANDY. I really think you'll find her- just a little patience:) and you know if it really bothers you, usually dentists have really good payment plans. Say 100 dollars a month or so. I hope you can smile cheerfully in the future knowing your girl loves more about you than your spunkyness :)

Personally, teeth are a very big thing for me. And usually a lot of other girls.

For me personally, they're a deal breaker.

But I'm sure that there is a girl out there who will accept you, crooked smile and all. Just be confident and that's all that matters.

And you said you plan on fixing them, so hopefully that won't be an issue anymore later.
