Why do most of the Turks bleach their skin?

I am an Armenian who lives in US. Here, I have met a lot of Turks and they had lighter skin than most of the Armenians. However, originally, Armenians are lighter than Turks. So, why do those Turks bleach their skin?

We don't bleach our skin.
I am living in Turkey and I never saw a person who bleaches her/his skin. Actually lots of people go to solarium or get a tan.
Implying Turks are brown is funny, If Turks are brown Armenians and Greeks are brown too, because most people here are either Greek or Armenian descendants. An actual Turk looks just like a Mongolian or Chinese.

Yeah you are right but there are also North African descendants in Mediterranean region of Turkey.

@qwertykeyboard Yes there are. There is not a one typical Turk. A Turk could be Armenian, Greek, Bulgarian, Albanian, Macedonian, Arab, Iranian or Berber. (North African.)

Asker, Armenians are not white. Look at Kim Kardashian, she looks like an Arab even though her mother is a white European. Turks are not white either, they are mixtures of several nations.

However, borders of white, black etc are drawn by people. For instance, an average Italian is less white than an average German. An average German is less white than an average Polish. An average Polish is less white than an average Swedish etc.

there re no much difference between armenians and turks.. as a skin color i mean.. and there re not much %100 turks.. its a mixed culture

Armenia's being an a part Soviet Union for 70 years does not imply that Armenians are genetically very close to Russians. 70 years is a very short period of time for that to happen. By the way, there are lots of Armenian descendants in Central and Eastern Turkey.

@TheMoroccangirl I have been to Italy and Italian are not so dark. Most of the Italians are lighter than most of the Greeks and Turks. Their average skin colour is closer to French people's skin colour.
