Is it a good idea to have wisdom teeth removed?

i get the occasional pains of the teeth growing out every 4 months and I think it might be shifting my teeth, my bottom row look a little crooked all of a sudden? should I just go get them removed I'm terrified of pain and surgery...

Getting wisdom teeth taken out is a common procedure for people our age. The main reason why wisdom teeth are taken out is because of 3 reasons:

-So they don't cause the teeth in your mouth to bunch up, and overlap

-Food particles can get stuck in the crevices made by the wisdom teeth trying to break through the skin. Bacteria can be hard to reach when brushing.

-Wisdom Teeth are no longer needed and can cause pain

Please check with your dentist and ask him/her for a referral to a specialist who deals with the wisdom teeth procedure.

The surgery was the easy part. But I'm a veteran. No not in the army. I've been having surgery since I was four months old. Lots of brain surgery. Wisom teeth? a p¡ss in the bucket in comparison. That's of no help to you, I realize. You get a sore mouth for a while. Pain killers help. In a few days you'll be back to work, school, or whatever.

In fact, now that I think of it, I think I spent more time off BEFORE getting them out because of my sore jaws.

Trust me. I'm terrified of pain and avoid it like crazy. But it doesn't hurt at all. Before, during, or after the surgery. I had prescription pain killers and I didn't use them at all.

I just had them out this summer. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The procedure was completely painless, and my teeth were a bit sore for about a day. My face was swollen for about 4 days though, but nothing hurt at all. Most likely your dentist will say you need them out, and can tell you the many reasons that it will be bad to keep them.

Theres nothing to be scared of really, I've had them taken out in a day.Then it hurt a bit for 2 days but they give painkillers and then your done with it =)

Not to mention you get to eat a lot of icecream & pudding :p

yes its a good idea because if you wait too long they will start giving you a lot of problems, I have two of mine removed, I need to go back to get the other two removed because they have been giving me problems
