I have neck pain that gets bad enough that I have bought my neck brace from Amazon and Ebay. I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions I've made. My doctors have not ever prescribed one but every doctor I have been to says that if it helps wear it. I do get a lot of odd looks from people but honestly I could careless. Once I had a few of my friends ask me if they are comfortable to wear and at the time I had 3 extra ones because I had bought some from Ebay. I had bought new pads for them so I would not have to use ones that had been used. One day I had the idea to go to a shop that done the old west photos. My wife said that it sounded fun and we asked our friends if they wanted to go. Then I got a migraine that made my neck kill me so I put my brace on. My wife said that we could cancel but I still wanted to go. Our friends came by to get us so we could car pool. They seen me and suggested that we cancel. I told them I still wanted to go. They said ok and asked if I had more braces enough for all of us. I said I did and I asked why they said that if I was going to wear one then they wanted to as well. It was nice that they didn't want me to feel odd. So we went to the place and we done the pics with the braces on and off. We had a good time that day. Would any of you out there wear a neck brace to make your friend feel better? I am posting some pictures of my braces so you can see what I am talking about. I know that some people have no idea what I am talking about. And I am going to post a picture of all of us wearing them. Again as always rudeness will not be tolerated and will be reported as there is no reason for it. Thank you all in advance for your answers.
Have any of you out there ever worn a neck brace when your neck muscles are acting up?
Yes. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome as well as Chiari Malformation. My C1 vertebrae or the axis is very hypermobile. I have an Aspen Vista C collar. It is very restrictive but if I am hurting it helps to immobilize those muscles to give them a rest. So to answer your question I would wear one for a friend if they were feeling down for having to wear one. Most of my friends with this disease have one anyway. I would post a picture of myself but I don't feel comfortable doing it here.
I can understand that totally. I have many friends on Instagram that have that. I too was shy at one time and I can understand how you feel. Most of my friends on IG contacted me because I wear one when I get a migraine or my neck acts up. Seeing that I have a migraine most of the time I wear one a lot. I hope that you are doing well.
Do you know what the root cause is of your constant migraines? I ask this because I migraines like this and it was discovered that I had Intracranial Hypertension. Last October I had a VP shunt implanted in my brain to drain out the extra CSF or brain fluid. I can tell a huge difference and for the better.
I have after my first crash on the Nürnburgring Nordschleife. I totaled my M3 and it resulted in 7 broken bones and a lot of casts including a neck cast 😂
