Why aren't I losing weight?

OK so I've been on a diet because I really want to lose 15-20 pounds for prom. I've been eating about 800-850 calories a day and working out every night so I burn at least 300. You would think this would make me lose weight but I've had no results so far. Any ideas why? Or any tips would be helpful.
