Having spent 3 months of 2020 in a coma thanks to covid, yes. I take staying alive and not killing others seriously.

The CDC official figure of 3% death rate doesn't tell the whole story either. There are many long-term effects of a serious infection including lung scarring, heart and kidney damage. Before I caught covid my kidney function was 95%. Covid affected all my organs and my kidneys failed completely. Six months later my egfr test still only shows 40% function, although it was at 5% when I was in the coma.

Mercifully I've recovered enough to not require dialysis, but my life will never be the same.

I'm vaccinated now but I could still catch or spread the virus without the mask.

There are any number of subtle gradations, but ultimately two possibilities: either mask-wearing prevents the spread of Covid, or it doesn't (there are also lots of other aspects, but let's focus on that one). Now, if it doesn't block the spread of Covid, then it's a bad idea, because it blocks the spread of other pathogens your immune system needs to encounter and destroy to stay sharp (it's a lot like muscles; it needs to work). If wearing a mask DOES block the spread of Covid, then it's a bad idea, because without exposure, there's no herd immunity, and without herd immunity, there's no end to the pandemic. In political terms, this means no end to the restrictions, with the insane economic and psychological damage, the constant damage, and the political horrors we've all been distracted from (like China illegally seizing Hong Kong and Congress ONCE AGAIN attempting to destroy peer-to-peer encryption).

So it's a bad idea that turns us into slaves, or a bad idea that turns us into Martians. I take it VERY seriously.

Masks only stop you spreading the virus. I have never had the virus nor wear a mask luckily due to been exempt. I would only wear the mask if i thought i was at risk of having covid. Which considering i know no one with it nor my collage nor my work placement. Just seems like my circle won't get it so shrugs.
Also now vaccines are a thing it's become even less of worry. So it's never really bothered me all year.
I am probably the one who will get covid after everyone's stopped wearing masks, like typical someone from the outer circle has given it to mine as soon as masks become not mandatory.

As someone who is in the vulnerable population I have taken mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing very seriously. I have only recently let up a little due to being fully vaccinated. But I have found that doing those things has also meant I have not been sick from anything at all this whole time. I usually get sick from colds or flu at least 2-3 times a year and I have not been sick at all since October 2019. So I will be wearing a mask in public from now on even years from now long after the pandemic is officially declared over.

What amazes me about masks is the fact that there is decades of Randomly Controlled Trials (RCT) on hundreds, and sometimes thousands of patients, Nurses, Doctors and mixes of medical staff... all showing that masks are utterly useless for what people are wearing them for. There are OSHA experts with over 20 years of experience in, and out of field saying the same thing, and referencing the decades of data showing that masks do not work.

Despite this, people ignore it and wear them. And you have people in the comments already blocking another for trying to tell them the truth. No matter how secure masks make you feel, there is decades of data showing they do not work.

They also stated that most of those deaths reported for the US where not actually caused by covid, cormorbidities where artificially inflating those numbers so its about half of what is being reported. In addition, Dr. Birx openly stated that they where counting damn near everything as a covid death (they where "very liberal with the definition of covid death. If we suspect that they even came in contact with some one who had covid, we put them down as a covid death." her words).

This is also why according to the data we saw a dramatic drop in heart disease deaths, flu deaths, pneumonia deaths etc. because those where being counted as covid deaths. Again, you can go to the CDC website and look for the data yourself (you won't because your intellectually lazy).

@BakedBeanieBabie In addition to all of that, a third of all covid deaths occured in new york, michigan and New jersey, all the governors who also mandated that sick patients, despite having free space in hospitals intentionally sent sick patients into nursing homes, those who live their being the only group who actually is at risk (hence why Cuomo (governor of New York) and Whitmer (governor of michigan) being under federal investigation. Also why Cuomo, right before the order, took his own mother out of her nursing home.).

In addition to all of that I have read the abstract, methodologies etc. of multiple studies showing that the masks don't work, twenty plus studies all show this to be the case including a meta study from oxford. Have you per chance read any of these published scientific papers (seeing as how you claim to be so smart I would have to presume you did but then why would you be arguing against me if you had done that?)?

So in conclusion, everything I stated is absolute scientific fact and if you where not so intellectually lazy and did a little research (instead of trusting bias sources that have lied to you about every thing because it makes them money or gives them power when your panicing and stupidly ignorant), you would have a very different perspective on things, one that was not entirely anti science as it is now.

A study done on 3,700 adolescents (12-17) took the vaccine and very few got sick from it, the vaccine has been proven to be effective on people in my age group.

As for masks. You put a seatbelt on to prevent you from getting hurt in case of an accident. So you should be able to put a mask over your face to protect yourself and others from transmitting Covid. Since Covid is a virus the rate of transmission greatly effects the virus and can cause it to rapidly mutate making it even more deadly.

Wearing a mask isn’t 100% effective of course, but it’s still a precaution to protect not only yourself but others. And wearing a mask really isn’t that hard of a thing to do.

The primary route of transmission for covid is via small droplets that are ejected when speaking, coughing or sneezing.

That’s why masks can prevent that from happening, therefore decreasing the rate of transmission.

And the last study included shows a study done proving that states with a higher adherence rate to wear covid masks have significantly less rates of transmission and people getting infected with covid 19

@joeldalton obviously because we didn’t enforce masks quickly enough when the virus was just starting out and smaller. The rate of transmission going to increase if the virus gets more hosts and mutates.

At this point everyone should get vaccines so that covid can not be a problem anymore than we don’t have to worry about masks or anything.

If you use a mask it still gives you a better chance than just going without a mask and risking spreading the virus. On top of that you’re supposed to wash your mask or dispose of plastic ones in order to get it clean, I’m pretty sure everyone knows that so I don’t know why the articles tries to make that an argument for why masks aren’t effective.

I already said that masks aren’t 100% effective but in order to blow covid over we need people to just suck it up and take the vaccine. It’s here yet people still want to not wear masks and act like covid isn’t a real thing.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, and COVID definitely exists because I’ve had people close to me die from it.

You don't get covid and have it forever. the infections would have plateaued. That wasn't the case anywhere. Americans reported mask usage at about 85%. Much higher than what they claimed would make a difference to the infection rates.

You can ignore science if you want, but masks did not work.

As for the vaccine, it's your body. But know you can not sue a vaccine manufacturer if you have heart problems, blood clots, reproductive issues. The US has reported 1100 deaths from these vaccines and estimates base this number to only be 1% of the actual numbers. Preivous vaccines were pulled off the market after much less death and damage.
