Me and this guy were vibing on Christmas eve. Then he started bragging about pot brownies and how he needs them several days of the week to get by. I was extremely turned off so i rejected his offer to further get to know eachother. I told him i hold weed to the same length as smoking cigarettes, cigars, blacks, hookah, vape, etc. He was like “but i dont even smoke it, I only eat it. And we vibe so well, how can you let such a thing affect what we had going?” I told him it was quite early in the day and i hardly knew him just yet and had no problem stopping it there. I also told him, i broke up with an ex for it after he started up.
Then i told him he sounded pretty dependent on what I (along with very few others) consider a drug. He agreed and said he felt addicted despite what other smokers deny. He also said he’d spare me the “bullshit benefits of
weed” that many smokers discuss with those who dont support the habit. He was a very cool guy but had no intentions of ever leaving it behind. I just dont want to date someone who needs to be intoxicated to become/remain happy and hype. I want someone whos a natural.
As for you, would you reject someone for smoking or does it depend on what they smoke?

This is a tough one. I try to be live and let live. Maybe it would depend on how much of a smoker they were. I am a lot more flexible when it's a casual or once-in-a-while thing than if it were an addiction. I lost half my family to cigarette smoking, they were all heavy smokers who died young from smoking-related illnesses. It sucked losing a parent and grandparents so young. So for me, there's a strong emotional trigger around smoking. I also think how a person approaches it matters. I dated a smoker once, and he wore a F*CK OFF I SMOKE shirt around me and it just felt so disrespectful, especially in light of my family history.

With pot, I'm also more flexible if dating someone that does it socially or once in a blue moon vs more serious habit. I dated someone who lied to me about it and it was only towards the end of the relationship that he told me that it was a daily thing he did by himself and he had been hiding it. The lies definitely were more offensive than the act, but either way I was at an age where I didn't find daily use of substances cute or attractive. Moderation is one thing but using any kind of drug every day was too much for me to be ok with, and the lies were really what killed relationship in more than anything.

Call me narrow minded if you wish, but I don’t like being around the smoke or even the lingering smell of tobacco smoke or pot or any other substance. Regular smokers would reek of the smell constantly, and I’d have to accommodate their habit.

It also indicates that they not only don’t care about their own health, they also don’t care enough about me to protect my health.

If a person is a federal employee in the USA, the smell of the contents of Marijuana can compromise ones job. There are other employers that may have the same scenario. I don’t want my house smelling like smoke or marijuana. Whether the brownies create a smell, I dont know, but what I do know is I dont want my clothes smelling like it. Foster care and daycare jobs will be questioned as well. For tobacco I have an allergic reaction so that is out of the question as well. The other issue I have discovered in the past is the electronics at work got contaminated from cigarette smoke and marijuana, the backup systems were also compromised. So based on that experience and having to repair them I do not want to have to have that scenario again. I believe that a person should be treated fairly regardless of the choices they make, but these scenarios would not be allowed in my home or car since it will compromise my life decisions.

I refuse to have someone in my life who is stupid enough to constantly inhale toxic poisons, and is so oblivious to the effects of it. Here is the reality of the matter. A woman can be a perfect 10 appearance wise, the moment she lights up she goes from hot to the crypt keeper in my eyes.

If everything else about her is great I wouldn't reject her for smoking cigs. It's not ideal tho. Weed or hardcore drugs? Wouldn't be interested in that. There's way too many bad possibilities like 1.) She's friends with drug dealers who bring you into a drug war situation, 2.) Her drug dealing friends think her or you snitched which is a death sentence & yeah I've seen it happen to people, 3.) Cops confiscate your property because her drugs were around, 4. 3. Nicotine. It's just too nasty, because of the smell, and they way their mouth tastes.

Not a fan of cigs but I like smoking weed. I'm an addict of many things but I don't generally have a problem giving up.

I'd prefer not to, affordability is the main reason I give up. I like the feeling, it slows my mind, stops too many thoughts running through my head and let's me relax.

I'm good at giving up, as much as I get easily addicted, weed, alcohol, food, shitty computer games and many others, quitting is generally easy with a desire to do so.

The main reason I don't like smoking is it smells... and it's expensive. Ok, the two reasons I don't like smoking are the smell, cost and time taken to roll a spliff... The three reasons I don't like smoking are smell, cost, time taken to prep and a tendency to quote Monty Python...

I personally don't smoke but in here almost everyone does.

You go to Maccies (McDonald's) and see a 12 year old girl gathered up with her friends smoking weed.

If I'd bet how many times when going out I end up smelling that weed smell I'd be a
billionaire (not millionaire but billionaire).

When, they deliver something and open the door the smell floods the place and slaps your face. Worse, is that a lot of times there's kids in there being exposed to those substances.

So, I kinda got used to the idea of people smoking. A lot of my colleagues do, though I wouldn't since it's not healthy and brings more prejudices than benefits.

My dad smokes. My brother smokes. Obviously I love them and don't plan to write them out of my life. They're my family. But I will not involve myself romantically with someone who smokes. I don't care if it's cigarettes, vape pens, weed, etc.

If they regularly smoke 2 days a week it's a no no. I don't like cigarette mouth and weed gets annoying to smell all the time.

Vaping is cool, but so many people that have vapes just start developing daily or boredom habits which is also a turn off. Edibles can be fun but if they are doing them on a weekly basis it'd not very fun and leaves you useless all day.

My son is in contestant pain. He uses marijuana for chronic pain control. It's not that he couldn't get other medication but he wants to avoid opioids. It really comes down to why they use any drug. As a former smoker, I can say that the stench of cigs on a girls breath, hair, clothes, etc, are enough to turn me off. I can understand why mine turned off girls too. As for other smoking, like vapes and hookah, I wouldn't be attracted to someone who did. Weed in moderation, ok, same as alcohol in moderation. I used to be a heavy weed smoker. I found it slowly building up in my system and it ruined my life. I had trouble learning new music for the keyboard, almost got into a wreck because I was too stoned and it started giving me ED. I quit it and I want to stay away from it.
