Guys, what are your thoughts on the tom-boy girl? I play soccer and ice hockey outside of school and I'm on the girls rugby team at school. I really love sports and I've always been the athletic tom-boyish girl. I have a ton of guy friends and I never have a hard time talking or getting along with them, we make jokes, laugh alot, they're always teasing me all the time, etc. But lately I've been feeling really lonely. I've never had a boyfriend, there have been some crushes, but I'm pretty sure that I'm scaring them off, or they don't see me as that kind of girl they see me as 'one of the guys.' I'm very much a girl, I'm very confident and personally I think I'm very pretty, what's going on? Why havn't I been able to get a date?

Hey. I was in the EXACT situation. I'm still a tomboy and I'm 19 almost 20 years old. I ended up dating my best friend and we've been together for almost 2 years. :)

Sometimes, that's how it will work out. One day something between you and one of your guy friends will just... change. That's all I can explain it. You'll see each other differently.. Try flirting some. Don't go all girly, because that's why they like you in the first place.

My current boyfriend was one of the boys (all of them at one point had a crush on me apparently) who told me he could never see me with a boyfriend because I was just one of the guys to them. Like I said, things change. They like you for who you are because you're not one of the materialistic, high-maintenance girls, with all the drama.

I'm a pretty tomboyish girl too,

i play soccer, football, and go out to the sierras with the boys..

and all of that.. but I still try to remind them that I'm a girl that they can flirt with..

.. just flirt, and sometimes sexual jokes break the ice.. so yeaa

Have you tried flirting with them? A lot of tom-boy's don't flirt with guys for some reason and that's usually a problem. If you have, I doubt its what you like that is "scaring" them away. If you dress really boy-ish then that could be a factor. Sorry to say this, but if your muscular that's also usually a turn off for most guys. By muscular I mean you can see defined muscles and such. Idk, need more info on what you do to try to get dates in order for us to respond with a ton of advice.

If you dress tomboyish I think you should girly it up a bit more.  Guys are visual so you need to remind them that you're a cute girl.  Also flirt with the one you like because if you keep it friendly and joking then he probably won't see you that way.

I know I am not a guy, but I thought I would add my advice haha. (I am also very active in sports and have guy friends.) You don't have to give up sports to show your feminine side! You could try dressing girly at school, but in a way that is comfortable to you. Just ask someone out on a date, sometimes the boys don't come to you. That seems to be the case these days. The girls are the ones chasing the boys!
