I think the biggest poll choice, had it been a choice, would have been something about crowded equipment, waiting for equipment, people who block equipment or sit on equipment while just looking at their phones or themselves in the mirror or whatever.
Honestly, I feel like people at the gyms here in California are very respectful, try to share or being conscious of others regarding equipment, and I don't see people doing a lot of flirting or approaching others while they are working out. I don't do it, and I've never been approached myself, nor have I seen anyone approach anyone that didn't already seem to be friends.
My biggest issue at gyms is when they are busy, and the weights or machine or space that I want to use is being used already. Most of the time this isn't a huge deal, as I can rotate to another area and use something else. There have been a few times where I realized it was too crowded and I was stressing out about wasting time waiting rather than working out. I changed my schedule and/or my routine based on that. I tend to use some equipment that is less preferred and that also works for me. There are lots of ways to work various muscles and some people only know how to use one or two machines or only have one way to work a specific muscle (or group). I don't mind mixing it up or using something else. There are a few that I don't really have a replacement for, or that I really prefer just because they are such great exercises, such as deadlifts.
When I belonged to a gym:
One, it was expensive (for me).
Two, it didn’t feel like I was doing much good or getting much benefit. Like I could never get friends to go with me or spot me, so I just did stuff I could handle.
Three, for a good part of the year, I had to go out in 29-30°f (or colder) weather to get there.
Four: I got screamed at for spending money and going out “all hours of the day” every day (I never did a 4am or 1am workout, so I never woke anyone up or inconvenienced them by going, but I had an irregular schedule so sometimes I’d work out at 5pm, sometimes 10am). Personally, I was trying to improve and get myself out of a bad situation and grow a little, which I think made them angry/jealous.
Five: I have chronic pain. Right now, I’m wide awake because I’m sore. Just from nerve damage. I get to go out and inflame that or try to soldier through that pain.
Six: at one time, I worked out in college. But being that everyone was working/sleeping, I’d be the only one working out most of the time. No one to spot me.
Seven: not recently, but years ago, the gym I went to always had locker rooms full of unabashed old guys walking around naked putting their junk on everything, farting, smelling all musty and gross… man boobs down to their waists, just letting it all flop and hang loose, not a care in the world. It always seemed to smell like a musty toilet because of the codgers wouldn’t flush. If you ever heard comedian Jeremy Hotz talk about his experience at the gym… yeah, that was pretty much my experience. Luckily, all the other gyms I attended, the guys were a little better behaved and classy, so that part wasn’t too bad after I left that place.
Sometimes there can be to many people at the gym and they start hogging/getting aggressive with their time on the equipment. Sometimes it can be to loud if they have music, tv, on plus the sound of people working out/talking. Another thing is seeing others who look good and you're wonder what they did to get rip and loose way, can get overwhelming. Other than that I never had a problem with being hit on and I rarely see men or women trying to pick each other up cause they are trying to work out. I think both sexes understand it's a no pick up zone.
Attention seekers in lycra outfits, showing how much weight they can lift or how long they can cycle, or whatever. Both men and women. I go to a 1-to-1 gym, just me and the trainer, so I don't have to put up with those idiots. It's so much better, just costs more.

People being jerks at the gym. For me the biggest issue were the guys loved to point how sweaty they were after workouts.
But my biggest issue was that I started going to the gym as a newcomer to fitness and no one actually bothered to point at to me when I did a workout the wrong way. They just laughed to giggle and make fun of me but never told me what I did wrong.
So I ended hyperextenting my shoulders because no one told me that I did a workout wrong, after that I left and turned to bodyweight workouts I can do in front of a mirror or at an outdoor gym where people seemed to be more friendly.
I can't stand the women in the gym who want to claim harassment when it is not true. There have been times when I have finished a hard exercise and sit up to rest between sets when a girl just walks by.
Whenever I notice movement out of my eye I look around because all of my military training has taught me not to be oblivious to my surroundings. Sometimes a girl walks into my view and I look because I notice movement, not because I am looking at her. I do not even acknowledge her yet I've been reported for "staring" before. Lucky for me the gym staff know me well, but there are guys who have been kicked out for a scenario just like mine.
As a man I can't stand other men - or I should say boys - who are sculpted to extremes or just very built and they want to dominate the weight-lifting area, break the gym rules, or giggle at you when they think you don't see it because they think you're not exercising right or as if you're wasting your time trying. Gotta be the most toxic experience and people in a gym.
But yeah, I also do get annoyed by some of the chicks who are in there looking for a boyfriend. Some of them even act like they're the ones being preyed on and are literally waiting for you to look at them so they can give you a scowl or a sneer, all the while they're watching you on the equipment! Really hate that.

I hate everything about gyms.
1. finding a parking space
2. thieves break into vehicles at gyms
3. sweaty stinky people all around me
4. women hanging out on equipment while having girl fest sessions and talking on cell phone
5. broken equipment
6. women who dress like they aren't serious about working out
7. monthly fees
8. workout classes that require you to be there at a certain time
9. time wasted driving to and from the gym is almost as much as time it takes to workout at home
10. walking to and from work each day will have more benefits than going to the gym, cost less, be more enjoyable
11. they are always trying to sell personal trainer bullshit. i don't need that. just look at youtube and then do the work.
I can’t stand old men who don’t know what the hell they are doing in gyms. They sit on machines and do nothing, try to talk to you butt ass naked in the locker room or look ridiculous when they do try to workout.
That’s not to say I don’t support any old and/or really out of shape person in the gym. That’s where they belong. But if you don’t get in shape threw osmosis.
This also includes fat girls who work at front desks at the gym. For some reason I see a lot of these. They too have this false “osmosis” belief that they will somehow get in shape from physically being in the gym. They work at the gym but never work OUT at the gym. But again if I see them actually exercising (with purpose) I have 100% respect for that. I will never ever make fun of an overweight person who is trying to improve themselves. I’ll only encourage them.
Couldn't just pick one. People in general. Waiting for machines. Rules. Putting plates around because someone else was too lazy to do it. Sweat on a machine before trying to use it. People just sitting on what you want to use while they play with their phone.
I'm not going to keep going, it should be obvious why I make the choice to by my gear for the home when I decided to make this a life choice and not just a yearly payment.
People “saving their spot” by putting their stuff down at the squat rack while they go on to do other workouts somewhere else in the gym… While there are people waiting to use ONE of the ONLY THREE squat racks in the whole gym.
If there’s a LINE waiting to use a piece of equipment, someone better be actually using the piece of equipment people are waiting for instead of going MIA and dilly dallying somewhere else in the gym.
Females who go there to pick up and thirsty simps who think that a female’s painted on costume, camel toe and bouncing tits are a signal to him to approach.
I go there to work out. I do not want to walk on eggshells because of the presence of attention seeking women.
Courtship behavior of some guys in gyms is annoying. Amount of guys with low social competence, who don't understand f... off body language is higher than in other sport facilities.
I feel like sometimes there are too many people in one area. I also hate the people that are going extra extra hard for no reason on some machines. There’s nothing wrong with going hard at all but I don’t like when people go super hard just to show how strong they are and stuff.
Usually that only happens every once in a while though
You have to sign a multi-year contract just to try it out and you can’t even get out of the contract without proving to them that you have a good enough reason to terminate the contract. You could literally sign up for a membership then get married and get divorced and have the divorce finalized and still have 6 months left on your gym contract.
The fact that other people are there, in general. Even if they don’t try to talk to me. I prefer privacy.
As a gym it self, i never had a problem with it. But the members pisses me off, those who wear perfume at the gym, those who don't clean after they use the machine, the chatty ones, the show offs, and my new favorites, the idiots that can't take their eyes of the phone instead of working out. But that is just my opinion. I wear a hoodie on my head, headphones and i don't make eye contact, plus where i work it's mostly empty, barely 3 people in there, my favorite gym so far
I don't like my body, but the only time I have to work out is before work, and my gym is down the street from my job so I don't have time to go home to shower so I have shower there... I just don't like people seeing my body.
Never been to a gym but I've been to work out rooms at hotels and it's pretty good. Mainly because it's me and the eggs I had for morning. And my sexy body nice and ripped.
People are just rude, out of the options.
That being said, people in the gym tend to be quite chilled, so in my case, it's a rare or none-existent occurrence.
It really does upset me when people don't clean the gym equipment, just because they think the staff members should and not them is completely selfish
Only when there's too many people and some people are rude.. That's very few though.. Most people wipe down the machines.. So I can't complain honestly..
Common showers are nasty in every conceivable way. Might as well bend over naked at the waist in front of a rapist to drink water directly from a used toilet.
Posers, I’m there to look red and ugly. Not face of makeup in spray on clothes taking pictures and just squad or the stepping machine
