Not necessarily permanent nerve damage... yet... but you are getting pressure on the nerve which is causing the numbness. I have had cubital tunnel syndrome in varying degrees for years and that is an example of this sort of thing. I believe these sorts of things are called "Nerve Compression Syndrome".

Go to doctor and have your beighton score checked. You might have hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome. If you have other joints that dislocate get checked. Look into braces etc. You might end up with hypermobility syndrome diagnosis as well. Ehlers danlos is thought to be umderdiagnosed and with no genes to point to most doctors dismiss it.

You need to Google Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The rate you are going you are gong to need a knee replacement earlier than expected.
