Gas prices dropped what is the price of gas where you live?

I see the price of gas has dropped. Gas locally is $1.61 a liter & diesel is $2.10 a liter. For those in the U S it's 3.78 liters to a US gallon. So what are you paying for gas where you live?

2.50 a gallon is the cheapest near me (66 per liter). Most places are around 2.55-2.60.

Most difference in price is due to taxes. The US has the second lowest tax in the world (Mexico is lowest). The US federal tax is only 17 cents a gallon. State tax average about 35 cents a gallon but varies from 17-67 cents a gallon. So in the US the state tax is the biggest difference from state to state.

Some countries have over $3 per gallon tax, mainly in Europe.

For instance, before the pesky pandemic, I used to work far from home and lived in a motel room in north central Connecticut (CT) only a few miles from the Massachusetts (MA) border. So, each weekend, many people drove right over the border from CT to MA and get gas.

I took this picture in September 2013.
The road is US Highway 5 and I am facing north and slightly west.
I am standing in the state of Connecticut on the east side of US-5.
That gas station is in the state of Massachusetts on the west side of US-5.
I'm about to cross the border and save 25 cents per gallon! Just like dozens of others from CT who travel to this gas station each weekend.

I have lived two places with something similar. I lived semi-near a native reservation which don't charge federal or state tax. People would go there to buy gas and cigarettes.

I have also lived in both Oregon and Washington, including a short while near the border. Washington had sales tax, but Oregon didn't. For large purchases people from Washington could save a lot of taxes by crossing into Oregon to buy it.

The price was 2.779 US$ / gallon.

@bananathunder actually, we had a lot of inflation and no you don't know how inexpensive it is till you get here 🤣. Most population unfortunately lives hand to mouth but with pride💪.
we have an agrarian economy with some industrialization so we are not starving thankfully.
The main issue is we have our electricity cost increase 2 folds in a year. Fuel prices too and our food and consumer inflation rate increased too.
Luckily, we are surviving because we don't get that much snow in our country where the majority population centres are. Otherwise we would be fucked up like Ukraine. water stress is a problem though but we are mitigating it with solar energy. The sun is our best friend now ))

I looked it up: "'Petrol' is a shortened term for 'Petroleum Distillate' which is what it is. Gas is a shortened version of 'Gasoline' was a trade name for Petroleum Distillate used in the US. Diesel is the fuel used in Diesel engines which were invented by Rudolf Diesel so unsurprisingly it is called diesel in germany!"

I forgot how well our country is off. Looking at the price of gas in Canada and in the United States. In the United States we are paying $68 a liter. Or $2.60 for a gallon of gasoline. That is in the Kansas City metro area.
