The lie is #3. Not going camping in Ohio. Yes, I was once lost in the foggy Pinelands of NJ. A trip that began in Bath, PA, and destined for Whiting, NJ turned into a nightmare when my brother in law told me to go through Trenton, NJ instead of where I was used to going. It should have taken me 2 hrs--but I had no GPS and no map--just my brother in laws written instructions. No one I spoke to, or who tried to guide me knew where Whiting was. I finally found the road parallel to my aunt's home!

that was a school trip to the mountains, and my group of friends did split from the rest, and I TOLD THEM... "guys, we're going too far apart, we're gonna get lost" but you know, feeling adventurous, teenagers do that, and then I warned them I was losing track about how to get back, everything is starting to look the same and there's no references lmao... so that's when I said screw it, let's get lost!!

and we did lmfao... took us about six hours or so, to reach a party of those who were looking for us lmfao, and I was willing to spend the night there, we really didn't make much of an effort to find the way back we were just wandering around and having fun (this spot is very busy and popular so search parties are active and ready every weekend lmao, so it was not a big deal really)

Getting lost in the mountains or forests can be scary. I got lost on a reservation, showing my cousin and his wife and daughter around. They aren't from this country, and wanted to see the fall trees, so I took them to a reservation I normally go through. There are hiking trails, but I had no map and we went in too far down to a lake and couldn't find out way back. There were marked trees too. what saved is was that there were Boy Scouts in the area that helped us find ort way back. But it was getting dark before then, and there are bears in that reservation (wolves as well) so I was glad we made it out in time.

I'm old, but I don't like camper vans nor have I ever camped. Yes, I was lost for 6 hrs or rather reached my destination in 6 hrs in what should have been a 2 + hr trip.

Nope! #3 was the lie. I'm not from the midwest, just moved here as of 2 years. But I was lost in NJ (which I think you're familair with. I don't see the update I wrote, so I'll tell you here that it began in Bath, PA (near Bethlehem) and I was supposed to stay over my aunt's house in Whiting, NJ which is in Manchester Twnship. It was night, and my nbrother in law had told me to go a differrent route he knew was better--through Trenton. I'm sure it might have been tme wise (It should have taken me 2 hours tops) but his instructions weren't clear and after 2 hours of leaving PA--I we ended up looking at a sign that said, "Welcome to Pennsylvania!" That was just the start. I ended up in southern Jersey at one point, in Fort Dix. No one knew where Whiting was but what I should have asked them for Manchester Township, because that's a major town there. It was an October night and very foggy, nothing but pine trees. It's amazing but it happened. Some folks here said that this would be too stupid to happen--it has nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with knowing your whereabouts and sense of direction--which I didn't have in unfamiliar territory!

Your trips through NJ and PA sounds familiar. I've driven those roads several times and it's easy to get "confused". Remember that those roads are basically colonial buggy trails that wander all over the place, with few (correct) signs.

by the way, you know that we guys never get lost. We just take roundabout ways of getting to our destination. 😎

I’m pretty sure I would have gotten to my aunt’s sooner had I just followed the same route I normally did from the parkway onto another route that led to her house. My brother in law meant well, but his directions weren’t complete. The funny part was that while I went into fort Dix, a soldier there couldn’t help me as he was from Alabama.
Of course men don’t get lost. They never ask for directions either. !!!
