When you turn the water on the shower, it may take a while for the water to warm up before you hop in the shower. That time can vary, depending on how the shower gets its hot water.

I have a gas-powered water tank heater. It takes someone using the water, to get more hot water. It can be very frustrating to try to get very hot water most of the time for me. I like extremely hot showers, so I always have to run a load of laundry or run the dishwasher and then go take my shower. Otherwise, I am taking a lukewarm or cold shower... brrrr, had to do that too many times.

Hot water tank and its turned up on a high setting so doesn't take long to warm up

It's really weird here, in the basement, the water is so hot almost instantly, you could scald yourself on it! Up on the second floor, the shower only takes about 5 seconds to get hot. On the first floor in the kitchen, I have to run the water for nearly a full minute to get WARM water!!

I have an instant hot water heating unit.. That having been said it takes like 20 seconds or less to heat up.

Around 30 Seconds, I have a 10.8kW Electric Shower, it heats faster than drawing hot water from the combi boiler fired household hot water, but id the power goes off I have neither, this is one of the biggest drawbacks of a combi boiler as you have no hot water tank.

In the rooms adjacent to where our hot water tank is located, it's very quick, under 10 seconds. The extremities of the house take a bit more time. I'm definitely stepping into the shower in under a minute in our bathroom.

As for me I have a tankless system that runs on natural gas & it takes about 17 seconds to reach the preset temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

No idea! I just open the water and start showering, even when it's cold because i am used to it 🤷‍♂️. I rarely take hot showers. Body temp water is my usual

I have the standard tank water heater. It doesn't take long because it is on the other side of the wall and the water doesn't have to travel far.

I personally don't know anyone who has the "on demand" type. But anyway for my situation the tank is fine. It takes less than 15 seconds to get the hot water through the pipes to the shower.

Hot water tank but it takes like 5-10 minutes so I usually just get in while it's cold.

Instant tankless hot water works off the natural gas system. Uses less water and is technically much more environmentally friendly.

I don’t know about endorphins but it takes forever to heat up and I just don’t have the time. in November I will, but not now.

@MiddleAgedClimbee thanks for the article. I’ve changed my lifestyle in July. One meal a day (but healthy snacks if I need something), only meat and veggies when I do eat (no starches or bread, no sugars) and the cold showers. I've dropped 20 lbs since the beginning of July. I guess I’ll keep up with the cold showers too.
