People develop eating habits when they are young, and it commonly does not change much as they get older. Young people are high energy and naturally slow down as they age. But their diet tends to stay the same. So they gain weight as they age. Even by their 30s it starts happening.
Someone might be trim when they are 25, but they eat too much, or eat the wrong thing. They are young with high energy, so they get by with it. Then as they age and slow down, they blow up like a balloon.
It's predictable. You know with certainty that they will slow down as they age. You also know that a very high percentage of people with poor diets will continue those poor diets. That's why it's so important to develop good eating habits at a young age.As for men vs women, there isn't that much difference overall. Although I think it's safe to say that women tend to care about their looks more. They also tend to care about their overall health more.
There are more middle aged men who are overweight. However there are more middle aged women who are extremely overweight. It doesn't really take much to be considered overweight. Being overweight has become so prevalent, that someone who is actually overweight is called skinny by some people. I see it here are GaG all the time.
It's the extreme overweight that most people think of as fat. In which case, middle aged women outnumber middle aged men. As they get even older, like over 60, overweight women in all categories outnumber men, including women who are only 10-20 pounds overweight.
Like the man in that picture is not just overweight. He is severely obese. And women who are severely obese like that outnumber men.

Its a disgrace quite frankly , and that's why its so vital to take this stuff seriously ( not just for men , everybody at every age ) ..
Its basically , zero exercise , and masses of processed foods , processed carbohydrates , fried food , and general consumption of high processed sugars.
Now , its important to note , fast food , its just a NEVER EVER EVER , there is never an excuse , this stuff does kill ( its not food ) , and it will kill you , its purely a matter of when , processed carbohydrates are not a STAPLE , they are to be avoided at all cost , including rice and bread.
Exercise , is NOT optional , its one of the most important things for all , USA has amongst the worst of the worst with regard to diet , in percentages terms basically EVERYONE to too fat , constantly monitor your BMI.
This generation of Americans will feel like sht when they are above ground , they will develop far more cancers , they will develop all sorts of other health issues , none of this stuff happens just by chance. Invest in yourself and take this very seriously , also explain to others the importance ( NO - just one is not okey ) , and all of these health issues affect the community at large.
So dont try and make it men v women , its everyone , there is an excuse and you need to be with the program. Europe in general is so vastly healthier than USA , and most of this damage occurs with the youth.
It's not only men hat or over weight. Most times it's to many calories going in & not enough activity to burn those excess calories off. Stats say : Roughly two out of three U. S. adults are overweight or obese (69 percent) and one out of three are obese (36 percent).
They love their fast food

my theory has 2 elements.
one when kids feel full at age seven, i don't mean 4 when they say, i am done, just so they can go to play, at seven... parents say "finish your plate" that TRAINS their body to ignore feeling satisfied. the first long term damage started with good intentions.
the alternative is put it in fridge covered for later.
another element is some women during pregnancy feel "fat" despite the fetus is growing and knowing it will leave they try to starve themselves instead of eating for two...
that trains the fetus to SAVE UP STORE learning from delays. thenwhen born and eat 3meals a day, the body continued its habit to store.
this can harm anyone. and peoe should avoid these causes.
other elements are people sitting at desks all day, and then sitting by the tv with their fatty chips and fatty snacks and diet cola for hours.
Depends on the man some men have bad habits, and some are just old so the body isn’t the same as it once were. For instance the same guy who can eat a steak before bed @ 20 without gaining a pound vs that guy doing the same @ 30 will gain due to a thing called metabolism which is the source of breaking down food for energy for the body.
On the other hand some men just over indulge for the simple fact of emotional trauma as most if not all issues are stored and left with them like a mental bank.
Last is simple some have gotten lazy as things over time lose their appeal. For the same reaosn women are overweight, although more women than men are fat in America.
According to the CDC, "More Women Than Men Are Obese In America, And Gap Is Widening"
Being overweight or obese isn't unique to US men, and it isn't unique to older men (as anyone can tell just from looking around in public):
I have the same view as Jeff Nippard skip to 9:19:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/keBZfGAmq2QAnd here are some obstacles that get in the way for many people. Men and women:
They smoke weed, vape, are lazy couch potatoes and most of all they swallow sugars, salt and fat like it's water. It's like they summon diabetes on themselves.
I've been to America twice. It's ridiculously hard to find food, that isn't contaminated with sugars. I wonder how no one comes up with a business idea to start food productions without added sugars. Sugar is evil!
There’s a lot of reasons including a decrease in testosterone as men get older. Insulin resistance as one person pointed out. Thyroid problems, genetics, medications, stress, lower metabolism, etc, etc. Just wait till you hit a certain age, you won’t be able to do a lot of things you used to do. A lot of people used to be able to eat whatever she. They were younger and not gain weight, but that usually changes. It’s not always diet.
We produce less testosterone as we get older. And we can generally afford all the sugary treats we couldn't afford when we were younger with a better metabolism. For some of us the demand on our self control is too great.
they're eating unhealthy. if you look at American men from the 1920s, theyre mostly thin. the availability of healthy food in stores these days have also changed
- got no bitches
- got no goals
- no real motivation
Men are really simple. As they just have no reason to keep themselves fit... as neither some women.
Look at the shit they have eaten for decades.
Look at the shit they have drunken for decades.
Not exactly nuclear science...
Obesity is a challenge for both genders, but I also think you're right about men having fewer excuses. We should have an athletic look compared to women, and I'm doing the best myself to becmore more athletic and to keep it.
Poor diet, lack of exercise, expecting to be able to eat at 50 like they did at 20.
too much junk food and not enough exercise.
Men aren’t allowed to talk about their feelings so it makes sense that sometimes they eat them. Also every part of American culture in pushing sugar.
Are people in other countries as lazy as we've become?
Estrogen in meat, decreased testosterone and living on beer and chips watching the game isn't helping them either
little to no exercise and poor diet will do this to anyone.
The real answer to this is insulin resistance. That guy in the picture could eat 1,000 calories and run 10 miles a day and still not lose the weight.
Junk food and beer.
