My dream always was to help people and donate blood, but because I was lower than 50 kg they didn’t allow. They said only people over 50 if can donate.
So, I often dreamed of being more than 50kg.

Maybe because you're Asian so you don't weigh as much? I'm Asian too but from the Philippines (living in the U. S) but my dna test said I'm 63% have ancestors from East Asia/Asian continent. Coming of age I was 105 at 19 back in 2003. As I got older though, it fluctuated a lot, even as recently as 99 last year. I don't know, I hope I am okay. Currently I'm 105 again (just weighed myself a few hours ago after dinner), but I remember during Covid (I guess I was eating a lot? I don't know but pre-vaccine I was around 117! That was my heaviest actually.
I don't know, I just felt like disclosing this to you so you don't feel that self-conscious. I think a lot of Asians can be naturally skinny, it's in their genes unlike White/Caucasian, or Hispanic/Latino people. I don't know too much about Blacks and their average weight for their women, nor about Middle Easterners though. And it looks like you've already gotten a lot of great answers here, so I don't really have much more to contribute in terms of Medical Information, but I yeah, I just wanted to say that you're not alone: I too inquired about donating blood back in 2008 but was decline specifically because I didn't weigh enough!
I am not Asian, I live in Asia.
The human body contains approximately five litres of blood. For safety reasons, the blood extracted for a donation, which totals around half a litre, may not exceed 10% of the total blood in the body.
hit enter to fast lol
The amount of blood in the body depends on your body weight, and for those weighing under 50 kg it is so small that donating increases the risk of post-donation complications such as faintness, nausea or dizziness.
Virtually every female is below 50kg here , I think they can still donate blood.
Honestly , its absolute stupidity if they do not allow , there is absolutely no physical reason that they could not take blood , just for being the correct healthy weight.
Especially when you see Obese in there , with massive BMIs , that blood is not going to be good at all.
Weird, in China a lot of women are over 50.
I have seen a lot of women here in the weight range of 45-55.
When I first came to China I was 52kg, they quickly offered fitness modeling jobs, because they thought my legs looked very sporty 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was 22 years old back then. I am now 48-49 kg. When I wanted to donate blood I was 46 kg.
The rules might be different in Georgia, because average female weight there is 50-55 kg.
I am the shortest one in my family, my mom is almost 10 cm taller than me.
You must weigh at least 50kg to be eligible for blood donation for your own safety. Blood volume is in proportion to body weight. Donors who weigh less than 50kg may not tolerate the removal of the required volume of blood as well as those who weigh more than 50kg.
So, basically short people are not eligible for donation?

They take same amount of blood from everyone
Also the bigger you are the more blood you tend to have and vice versa
If you are lighter than 50kg or 110 pounds , taking the usual 470ml blood from you can be highly taxing and demanding on your body because the amount of blood taken is a considerable percent (>15%) of the current circulating blood volume..
Probably has to do with the total amount of blood in your body.
They have never asked, they already asked weight, as soon as you say 47-48 or so, they say, “Sorry, you’ve got to be at least 50kg”
this is a general rule everywhere. it's because the less a blood donor weighs, the greater the percentage of their blood will be removed by a 1 unit donation (small body, less blood lol). so that also gives a greater chance of becoming dizzy and fainting after donating. if your weight is on the lower side, it's just more likely you'll experience those reactions.
The very simple answer is that people decided that "This much of your percentual body weight is safe to donate" and if you are below 50kg or thereabout donating a typical sized bag crosses the boundary of safe.
Of course in theory it would be safe to donate a lesser amount.
Donating blood is a surprisingly stringent activity and not at all as easy as many people seem to believe. Most people do not qualify.
Normally BMI is more important to them. Below a certain point the concern is over depletion of your own reserves of electrolytes and iron especially. It's perhaps the only time where arguing height to weight is appropriate because at 6' tall when I dropped below 60kg I was in a coma and almost dead but if I'd been 4'6" tall 60kg would be bordering on obese...
Yeah it's just like Isla said. If they extract blood you might need it after all. It happens all the time in my place that people give blood and then end up needing a transfusion themselves. So, your good noble intentions count though. Don't worry 👍
bod to weight ratio.
You might be losing to large of a percentage of your blood vs your weight and could possibly become anemic.
I have seen people pass out that were borderline on their weight.
Put some rocks in your pockets then go donate.
@IslaTheWitch already gave the answer.
This is a question with a very Googleable answer.
I know how to google but I like interacting with people sometimes
Because you do not have the vitamin or mineral levels in your blood to do so. You also can't donate if you are at or above 100°F which means I can't donate since my base body temperature is 100°F
You May Be Too Thin to Like "Recover" From The Blood Deal. They ALL Have Stipulations. Be An Organs Donor Someday. I May Donate My Own Body To Science. xxoo
You dream of being a blood giver,
If you set it as a goal you can achieve it.
Going towards 50+ kg one cake at a time ;)
The loss of fluid can cause your BP to drop too low or cause anemia due to your size.
lol because blood should probably be donated to you. It’s a liability.
I'm not allowed to give blood or plasma because I always hit the floor passed out when I try. Didn't know there was a weight rule. I don't think there is here.
Seems a bit narrowed minded. You make up blood fairly quickly.
Because the Blood You have is the Blood You NEED, take any of it in larger quantities than a ounce and You risk complications.
You can't be at that weight and lose the amount of blood that they need to take from you safely. You would wind up being anemic if they did.
Because if they took a pint of blood you wouldn't have enough to continue living.
Must not be enough blood in your system to fill the blood bag. I think that they don't want to take more than 10% of your blood at a time.
WHO THE HELL USES KG
