If I do some push ups during the day from time to time, will it help to shape my abdomen?
They won't hurt, but there are exercises other than push-ups that are far more helpful for ab work. Rotational machine is great. Try to balance your back extension work with your ab contraction work, too. Even doing glute work will help settle the pelvis to provide a better foundation for your ab/core work.

All I've been doing is 50 x 5 pushups a day for many years and it has maintained my abs quite well. I strongly believe you look like what you're able to do. I'm the biggest believer in pushups, however I will say that pushups is better for men's aesthetic and doesn't affect women's aesthetic as nicely if you care about that at all.
No. Low carb/cal is what will define your body. Don’t become sickly. Ab workouts do help but won’t do anything if your nutrition is bad. Don’t overdo your workouts, your body needs rest in order to grow/see results.

Mixing push-ups into your day is a sneaky good move for working on those abs. You might think push-ups are all about the arms and chest, but they're actually a bit of a secret weapon for your core, too. When you do them, you have to keep your body super straight, right? That's like giving your abs a mini workout every time, kind of like when you’re holding a plank.
But, let’s keep it real. If you're dreaming about getting those magazine-cover abs, you’ll want to mix it up a bit. Throwing some cardio into the mix helps burn off extra fat (because we all know abs are made in the kitchen as much as they are in the gym), and specific ab exercises will target those muscles directly.
Doing push-ups here and there, like when you take a break from staring at your computer screen or while waiting for your coffee to brew, can make a big difference over time. It’s like sneaking in exercise without it feeling like a chore.
Just remember, balance is the game. Listen to what your body’s telling you so you don't overdo it. But yeah, sprinkle those push-ups throughout your day and watch how they add up...
yes and no. no because every effort that aims at reducing your body fat will decrease the time untill your abs show. you already have them. you always did. it's just a matter of body fat percentage to make them visible.
so yes because any workout can do that "if" you also have a caloric deficite. there's nothing about this particular workout that directly gives you visible abs.No, flat tummy/abs are built in the kitchen. You need a proper nutrition for it. Also, it will only work if you have 20% or below body fat.
Abs are formed through the right diet.
If you want to strengthen your core, forget the pushups and do the five minute plank holds. So pushup position but you support yourself not with your hands but with your elbows instead.Push-ups are done in plank position. So, if done correctly, it will strengthen your core too. But there are better exercises to get a strong core.
They'll be better than nothing but do planks or hangs/leg raises for a more effective move.
Planks would do even better. Do planks then some pushups. Also, you will need low enough body fat to see the muscle being built.
Not exactly how it works. But it can if you diet properly. We all got abs it's the fat that covers it up.
Push up do work your core but you have to burn more than you take in.

that one thing alone and nothing else? definitely no...
Just flap your virtual wings already, @butterfly
If you want a flat stomach you need to concentrate on diet more than exercise
You need to lose fat and for that you need a calorie deficit diet , exercise merely helps to achieve the caloric deficiency
Just eat less consistently
You would be better off doing situps or crunches. Push-ups are more for your arms, shoulders, and chest.
Not that much, it’d help a bit but it’s not it’s not efficient.
Yeah, I didn't work out when I was skinny and didn't get abs
if you engage the core properly yes
planks are good too
If you focus on squeezing the abs during pushups it will act like a plank and you should see some positive results in the abs.
Not if you have a 28% body fat.
Isn't sit ups or crunches better?
No. That's not really how that works
No. Push-ups are a chest exercise.
