Why could sex cause vaginal infections?

In the past month an a half, my girlfriend has had two instances of vaginal yeast infections after we had sex. We don't know if we are doing something wrong or not, because her mother told her to stay calm, because this can happen for women every now and again. But it seems that the second episode came so quickly after the first... what could we be doing wrong? Should we go to a doctor? Has this ever happened to you?

I am worried because I don't understand what could be the cause of this.. we made love exacly the same way and in the same circumstances as every day before, nothing changed.. Could it be that maybe the bed sheets weren't clean enough? Could it be that I ate an orange or that I hadn't brushed my teeth before eating her out?

She should to pee before and immediately after sex. Don’t use vaginal washes as it upsets the ph balance, just plain water will do. Wash your hands and rinse your mouth before fingering her or eating her out, and wash your penis as well. If you’re using lube or condoms, make sure she cleans up really well right after. Don’t double dip.

I’ve had a yeast infection once because I feel asleep after sex and didn’t immediately cleaned up the lube. I went to the doctor’s and got prescribed some ointment and medications. Wasn’t allowed to have sex until everything cleared up. It could be her first episode didn’t clear up 100% so it came back again so soon.

So, we have to wear hazmat suits to fuck? When I was with my ex-fiance, we never went through any of that, fucked at least times a week and in all the years we were together, she never got an infection.
And, although we weren't together as long as I was with her, I can say the same about my previous two girlfriend's.

@FunkyMonkee nah just gotta make sure that she pees and clean up after. She might have an imbalanced ph, could be why she’s prone to getting yeast infections. Every girl is different.

I just recently cleared an infection. This things can happen once in a while if her immune system is a bit weak. I'm married and been having the same partner for a while now and this just happened to me. I had to go see a doctor who ran some tests on me and prescribed me a treatment. Probably because you dont wash your self prior to sex. Seriously a small amount of self care can go a long way.
