Remedies for sinus infections?

Currently got one, and get them all the time, especially when the weather changes. When I get one it sticks for a hot minute. Been sick for like five days. Been taking DayQuil and NyQuil, but it’s still here. Anyone got any good home remedies to help it get gone?

Dang man, being sick for 5 days with a sinus infection really sucks. Those things always seem to just linger forever. I've had my fair share of bad sinus infections over the years too from all the weather changes where I live. A few times nothing was getting rid of it no matter what I did.

Usually when I start feeling one coming on, I'll try and catch it as early as possible before it gets real bad. I'll take some DayQuil and NyQuil to dry it up and knock it out. Seems like that usually works if I catch it fast enough. But once it's been going for a while, that stuff just doesn't cut it anymore.

A couple things I like to do when nothing else is working is I'll run myself a hot bath and just sit in there with the steam for like 30 mins. Have it as hot as you can stand it so the steam is really thick. Breathe that steam deep, it helps clear everything out. Obviously use the neti pot with hot salt water too, that's a lifesaver.

And man, I know it sucks but try and use one of those steam inhaler things if you've got one. Just popping the end in your nose and breathing that steam in and out really gets down in there and breaks everything up. Bonus is you don't have to tilt your head back like with the neti pot so it's a little more comfortable.

Sleeping with a humidifier on near your bed is good too. I usually prop a hot water bottle on my forehead/sinuses while sleeping, the heat helps so much. Extra strength ibuprofen always helps with the pressure and pain from a sinus infection too. Hopefully trying some of that stuff gives you some relief soon dude, being sick is the pits. Feel better!

Oh man, I very much appreciate it! It’s finally clearing up, but I’ll remember these for next time. Next time isn’t too far down the road anyway lol. Since where I live the weather can never make up its mind, and there’s a lot of farmland around where I live. I swear I get seasonal sinus infections, and they linger forever, and don’t wanna go away lol.

Dude I feel your pain, seasonal allergies and sinus stuff is the worst! With the changing weather and all the farm fields around you it's no wonder you always get hit with infections. I'm in a similar situation and it's a battle every year lol.

Glad to hear this one is finally clearing up though, those remedies must be helping. Make sure you stay on top of it so it doesn't drag out again. And maybe look into taking an OTC daily allergy pill during peak seasons too, something like Zyrtec, to help prevent crap from settling in your sinuses in the first place.

Better living through modern medicine, am I right? Haha. But for real man, take care of yourself. Don't just tough it out when you start feeling crummy again - attack that ish right away with saltwater rinses and Vicks before it takes over. @Jackson2005 Right on man, glad to hear the sinus infection finally cleared up! Always such a relief when those things finally start to shift. Coughing is definitely an annoying last step to linger though. Hopefully that'll be gone soon too and you'll be feeling 100% again.

For me, the nasal douche method on occasion provided a tad bit of relief for me.

I had constant sinus pain from the age of about 18 to age 39.
My teeth would physically, audibly vibrate at a high frequency from the pain.

A friend of mine of mine used to tell me that he'd off himself if he had that kind of pain.
He's a good friend.
Really, he is.

My 3rd sinus surgery at age 39 finally relieved me of all sinus pain.
The first two sinus surgeries in my late 20s and mid 30s helped nothing.
I have no idea why they didn't.

That being said, to this day I have open sores on my septum that simply won't heal from the last surgery.
They scab over and reopen.
I'm told that it may be because of the constant rush of air past that area.
That side effect was worth the relief from the constant sinus pain.
