Hi everyone, what exercises do YOU use to get nice abs?

I like your last point I’ve been told by people in the past that you get most of your ab training by engaging your core during compound movements. Seems like a couple of isolation exercises on top of that is all you need no need to overdue it.

I don't necessarily agree with those people on that. Mechanistically, we get the most out of a muscle when we isolate the muscle best we can & provide enough stimulus to promote growth. But we do get a pretty good amount of stimulus by doing compound exercises that include a lot of load put on the abs.

I notice that for me, abs were a weak point last year so I trained them. I haven't trained them isolated since the beginning of this year & the muscle is still there. So I think that unless the core is something someone wants to be consistently strong at, they find themselves losing size in their abs by not training them, or their abs don't shot well enough even at lean bodyfats, then the focus really doesn't have to be much on abs.

For instance, I'm about to start doing isolated abs again but only because I'm getting leaner & want them to pop more. Then once I've built enough size, I'll reorganize my structure of training so that they're pushed behind other muscles that I want to prioritize. I then will alternate all my muscles like that to avoid burnout & to maximize gains.
