Hey, I been training for a few years now and trained a couple of people before,
i found the running for long period isn't as useful as you may think. For quicker results, you should spent time on sprints, and skipping.
find a hill with a decent incline, burst as fast as you can to the top the walk down, do this every other day for 20 reps, add more as you get used to it.
weight lifting is also an extremely useful tool, you don't have to lift to gain mass lift light and go for endurance, 15-20 rep range and use supersets, weight lifting keeps you in a fat burn stage longer.

Yes, ut don't start with 5k, its too far if you aren't in running shpae. Start with maybe 1k, and vary the pace. Sprint sometimes, just so use a range of muscles and don't get overuse problems with using only a few.
Running is just about the best exercise you can do for overall weightloss, the more your heart is pumping the better. that's what intense cardio is and that is certainly the perfect thing to be doing. I would start off with a certain distance and try to go further and further each time. results depends on the person but you could start seeing results in a week or less depending on your genes!
Eating healthy = awesome.
Running = really bad for you.
In most peoples heads they go
Running --> Exercise --> Good!
This isn't the case, it's really bad for your joints.
(This is coming from someone who does gymnastics so has knackered joints! Even so..)
Find a different form of exercise :)
Try a dance mat or workout DVD or something lol

Depends on your pace and diet. You can never outrun a bad diet. You say you're eating healthy, so shouldn't be an issue, but how long it takes depends on how hard you're pushing and what your caloric burn is.
5k is a good distance but you need variety. If you ran the same thing every day your body would grow used to it and it would make little to no difference. One of my friends is going to be a running coach and a real health nut. If you have any other questions, I could probably contact him a bit later and ask him :) Hopefully this will help! Good luck! :)
Try cylcing so you don't pound the weight on your joints during running.
if you want to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you eat. If you run 5k but eat more calories than you burn you will gain weight. I'm guessing that you don't eat 1000's and 1000's of calories a day, so yes, you should lose weight!
Concentrate on your food intake instead of exercise. Diet is 80% of the equation
