Is it better to eat healthily all the time?
I am curious. :)
You should eat healthy all the time. Cheating once in awhile isn't a bad thing. The problem with our society is that they know no moderation, which is why so many fast asses exist out there. They indulge all the time. Yet, when you hear about healthy eating, you get the other extreme and they're like OMG NO BAD FOOD EVAR! Indulging in a fast food trip once in a blue moon isn't going to hurt you. ...you may not feel so hot afterward, but you can. Just don't fall off the wagon and indulge all the time.
Overall, you should definitely keep like a 99% healthy diet. Just be sure to eat plenty of fruits, veggies, and fiber. Those are the most common things missing in the average diet.
Definitely allow yourself cheat meals. If you don't satisfy cravings then they will just build up until one day you burst and give in (usually when you're having a bad day and mad or upset). When you give in, you'll really give in and over eat to make up for the lost time while having those cravings. Also its always good to reward yourself with a cheat meal if you're sticking to your workout schedule/good eating habits. You can't always be too hard on yourself.
Really, apart from some foods which are just ... really unnatural, natural foods (and that includes things with quite a bit of sugar or fat) are not healthy or unhealthy. Only your overall diet is healthy or unhealthy. Eating chocolate cake or pizza made from natural ingredients is fine as long as your overall calories are in balance with your energy needs and you are getting the nutrients you need. Can you eat those for every meal? Probably not unless you are a full time athlete. But many foods that people think of as 'unhealthy' are rather 'calorie dense'. They are not bad, but a diet based heavily around them for a sedentary person probably is.
Well long term/short term yes it is better to eat healthy all the time, no doubt about that. But not everyone does... in fact the majority of people don't eat healthy at all (I know people that hate fruits and vegetables) so if you're eating healthy to a minimum degree, you're already doing quite good. "cheat" meals should be fine :)
Thank you :)

it would make sense if eating healthy all the time is better for you. you would probably also crave less junk the longer you are off of it. I don't think there is anything wrong with cheat meals though. if you like it and it makes you feel good than go for it. no food is that horrible for you as long as you eat it in moderation.
Yes it is better to eat healthily all the time, but the human body is pretty sneaky and gets tempted by things outside of "healthy...," especially if you are exercising too (rewards). I think to preserve our sanity we have to aim for a balance of the two...
I think its better to eat unheathily all the time. :-P
no haha. well I need to eat something sweet or tasty! I can't eat veggies and other stuff all the time. my taste buds are too used to unhealthy stuff thars why. lol
Yes! :D
Its hard work to eat healthy but have a cheat meal once a week other wise your going to hate life lol
Makes sense :D
It's okay, but do stop and smell the roses...er, the steak every once in a while. Eat it, too :)
Yes, yes :D
Cheat meals are a good idea, they prevent diet collapses.
There are many great, tasty foods in this world... to completely deprive yourself of them is stupid.
Obviously it would be better to eat healthy all the time, but I mean it's fine to "cheat" with meals, I mean hey, sometimes you just have to have a Frosty with french fries.
Of course it would be better to eat healthy all the time but realistically no one does. Everyone cheats from time to time. Even fitness advisers and body builders.
i just had nutella with vanilla ice cream on a cone. cheat all you want lol
I do the same with nutella and icecream! yummy! :D
If you eat healthily all the time you may live to be 100. But, of course, why would you want to?
I have a cheat day one day a week. Keeps me from wanting to veer off the straight and narrow.
I think like with all things we need a balance.
