Try exercise 4 times a week for a hour easiest exercise is walking, you can find a track to walk, do this in early morning or evening when cools off, or go to the gym hit the tread meal walk at least 3 miles a day try build yourself up to 5 miles a day. You can exercise but if you don't eat enough during the day to have calories good calories you won't loose weight. I had the same problem, one time I was bring 1000 calories a day for 5 days straight but not really eating my body went into to starving mode and I did not lose weight. know I am following the above advice, my doctor adviced try it! Let me know how things work out. I was 179 know I am 172 lost 7 pounds in a month and I just started. I am trying to get to 140 that's my goal. And this is after having 4 kids.
Dealing with a parent that is sick is sometimes hard, sometimes you may have to get someone else outside the family to encourage her to do a little activity. From experience both my parents were sick. It took outside the family help to get them going right direction.

Okay, there's a certain range of weight that each person's body tries to keep their body in. It's different for every person. You can gain weight or lose weight, but assuming you don't go to extremes, your body will put you back in that range, because it knows what's good for you. Your mom lost weight easily because her body is trying to put her in her healthy range, and you're NOT losing weight because you're already IN your healthy range.
Your body is telling you that you're fine as you are. That losing more weight would put you in an altered metabolic state and mess up a lot of normal functioning. You don't need to do anything but realize you're at optimal health now.
Does your mother suffer from any serious illnesses? Like, I'm diabetic, and I list about fourty pounds in a matter of months, and I'm still loosing. A lot of the time I can't even leave the house, never mind working out three times a day, and at the time, because of the way it was, I had to take large quantities of sugary foods. So I got to lie back, luxuriating all day, dipping my hands in boxes of chocolates and goblets of colas and I'd shed pound after pound. Life just not fair, huh? Ahahaha.
Either way, I would accept that her case is different from yours, for whatever reason. Assuming she's at least 20 years older than you? And as you say, she is obese, her weight is a much more tempermental thing than yours. I'm not an expert on weight loss or anything, but I think it's common to come to a plateu after a while where you aren't loosing weight, you're maintaining weight. If you went back to your old ways, before you started your current routine, you'd probably put weight back on quickly. So maybe you just need to increase it, or, change it to better suit your metabolism? Something else might suit better, like maybe cardio instead of jogging, or vice versa. Maybe you just don't have any more weight to loose, though? You don't look in much excess. Perhaps it's beginning to replace it with muscle weight? I read somewhere it's better to measure in inches, not pounds, because of that.
'Watch what you eat..' a loaded prase. If you're occasionally going for the pizza and ice cream, this will cancel about a week's workouts and good behavior with food. You really have to cut out cheating on your diet. Also, the first pounds are always easier. As you have less fat reserves, your body starts wanting you to binge occasionally more than it did when you were really heavy..

Your body will recognize you are trying to lose weight and adjust stop it. Switching your exercise routine will confuse your body into losing more weight before it adjusts again.
