Is my size putting men off?

I am a UK size 18 at the moment. I have lost 45lbs so far but still have around another 50lbs to lose. I am beginning to feel more attractive and confident about the way I look, however, I still don't seem to attract any men. For instance, I went to some pubs and a club on Saturday night with some friends. I was wearing a nice dress with heels, hair/make up done etc but no men seemed interested in me, whereas my slimmer friends (who are size 8 to 12) were chatted up and got lots of attention. I smile lots and am friendly so hopefully I appear approachable, so think it must be my size that is putting them off. What do you think? Men, are you put off by bigger girls? Do you have any tips for me in the meantime while I lose the remainder of the weight?

At the bar, guys usually WANT the skinny or slutty girl. But anywhere else I don't think it matters. It depends on where you're at and what's the norm for that setting. And UK 18 is only a 14 in us sizes which isn't that big, so be proud of yourself and lose weight for you not for guys. I'm going through the exact same thing right now, and I've found out its just the people you're around. If they're more attractive traditionally than you, or if youve known most of the guys you wanna date for a while so they don't see you that way. Just do your best at being healthy and happy, and the guys will come

Well men do prefer slimmer girls but good for you for trying to lose weight and make the initiative. Maybe when you lose more weight more men will approach you but the right guy won't care about the size of your waist he will care about the size of your heart

Don't look too much into it, but some girls dress more conservatively for a night out and therefore you can understand why their friend who's dressed like a slut gets more attention. So maybe that's the case. But yeah, I'm only about 12 1/2 stone and I'm mostly attracted to girls (for more than just sex) who are no more than about a stone heavier, usually girls much smaller. But if you're feeling confident, that's a plus point. Just try and see if you can lose that 50lbs and you'll feel even better about yourself :)

Well first of all I just want to congratulate you for loosing 45lbs, it's not easy good job! You seem like an intelligent young woman by the way you write. Here is my advice for what's it's worth. I'm not into the club or pub scene so I cannot comment on that fact. But it seems to me that only guys that are there are to hook up with women. Unless that's what your looking for which is fine too. Maybe just try finding a new hobby or going out other social places where guys aren't there just to get "some".

Unless the guy has a thing for fat girls you probably need to lower your standards. Keep in mind that the guys you will be willing to attract at your current weight will probably not be good enough for you when you reach your ideal weight.

I hope you don't get offended but yes being large will put off a great number of men.
