It depends on if you are looking for a temporary quick fix, or if you want to be more likely to keep it off. It also depends on how fast you want to lose it. The long-term fix is to exercise (consider some weight training as muscle burns more calories), and eat well limiting your carbs (especially sugary desserts or candy or soda) and other fast food/junk food/high fat type items.
If you want it off fast and for a short period of time (few days-week) and you can deal with a bit of discomfort try a slimfast like approach with a shake for breakfast and lunch with a normal dinner supplemented by chewing lots of gum and lots of water to kill some of the hunger pangs. Increasing your amount of vigorous exercise will also help (but will also make you hungrier). If absolutely necessary you can try to cut some water weight the day of by sweating it out. Again, this is only a short term solution and may make you uncomfortable and maybe irritible. Making yourself hungry is a terrible way to lose weight and keep it off, but it can work over the short term.

It is easy to do, here are some helpful tips. cut out unheathly snaks. try fruit. walk as much as you can. eat smaller portions of food. if you want to drop a lot of pounds here somthing that worked for me (but it is wastfull) eat half of whatever is on your plate. drop a lot. other than that excersise Cardio is good.
Just 5 lbs? If it's that small of an amount, just cut out soda and any other sugary drinks. You should also include exercise in your daily routine so you don't wind up being skinny fat, where you're small, but out of shape. If you watch what you eat and work out a few times a week, then you can lose these 5 lbs in as little as 3 or 4 weeks.
what joe joe says is right. but you need to also consider you need to exercise. Try jogging everyday for 20 minutes and spend time before bed doing light excercises. I said light because if you suddenly start with heavy excercises, you can hurt yourself. 5 lbs isn't hard, but it will be if you don't try.

what all these people said is good, but here is the thing. working out for 20 mins won't do you any good. here is why.
the body, before burning fat, must burn carbohydrates. It take 30 mins to burn your carbohydrate energy. after the 30 min marker you can then start burning fat. when I say 30 mins I don't mean, run for 10 mins, walk for 20, talk to a friend, then go back to running, the key is continuous motion.
my next tip is to never forget to eat breakfast because if you do in actuality your gaining fat. this is because in the morning if you ain't got no carbs to burn then you burn muscle, increaseing your fat to muscle ratio.
so with that good luck and keep goal orientated!5 lbs. shouldnt be hard...most important thing would be watch what you eat. Stop eating fast food, no more chips, cut back on soda, and lessen the amount of sweets. I switched from junk food to salads, vegetables, and crackers. Also, if you want to work out that can't hurt your chances of loosing weight.
I read that you should work out in the mornings before you eat anything because you'll be burning all the fat just sitting in there, and if you work out at night you burn the calories and fat you ate that day.. Just what I was told made sence to me.
anything that doesn't involve anorexia, or bulimia, will be healthy
