What do you do about severe constipation?

I have never had this problem before but I haven't taken a sh*t since Wednesday or Thursday. When I try to the pain is unbearable. The pain just started yesterday evening. Before I just couldn't get it to come out. It hurts so bad and I didn't eat anything different. I don't understand why this is happening.

I went to the doctor and they prescribed a stool softener. I am trying to increase my fluids but when I sit down to pee of course my body thinks I am trying to take a sh*t too and it is so painful. At this point it feel a lot like how you can't control yourself when throwing up except backwards. I am really worried about ending up with hemerriods at this point.

I am actually not constipated anymore but my stomach hurts really bad

i think it might be because I couldn't eat much for a few days

This has happened to me before when I was 11, I avoided cheese because if you eat a lot of cheese, it can make you constipated. Drink prune juice! it really helps, I actually had mild constipation problems when I was a little child, prunce juice really helped me and it was the best solution! your poop will be more soft and it will help you not feel as much pain making your trip to the bathroom more pleasant :) oh and eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water. Hope this helps.

Correct on the prunes but how anyone could eat them is beyond me, the thought makes me gag.

I hate prunes! but I drank eat anyway because it was the only thing that really helped.

could have been stress, try a session of colon irregation and prune juice can help.

Also watch your diet, keep high fiber as been told and keep up your water intake. Also you can massage your stomach by tumb circular motions from just below the right side of your belly button, up over the top of your belly and back down the right side. almost like you drawing a square around your belly button but don't close the square.

I think the stool softener was a good idea.

I would do this, its what I give to my residents when they can't "go"- yogurt, flax seed and a prune juice chaser.

Lots of fiber, whole grain, water, and throw some prune juice in there.

I hear eating fiber can help regulate your poo. wholewheat bread or anything that says whole grain on it can help prevent being constipated.

there's something called ex lax that can make you poo but I don't know where you can get it or if you need a doctor note to buy it.

go to a doctor

they have things you can take to make it easier

and you can always increase the fiber in your diet to make it easier (I know you aren't eating anything diff but adding extra fiber helps)

also drinking 4-5 liters of water
