I think it should at least be considered one so girls at school can get covered if they get injured.
Do you consider cheerleading a real sport?
I think it should at least be considered one so girls at school can get covered if they get injured.
I feel that anything that requires athleticism is a sport.
Example:
Golf- Requires skill, but not athleticism = a hobby (a very challenging and difficult hobby but a hobby no less)
Football/Soccer- Requires much athleticism and physical prowess, thusly is a sport.
To me it's not about offense and defense, that's a ridiculous classification. Then things like swimming, track and field, and those things aren't sports and they clearly are. It's about if it requires athleticism and physical ability.
Which cheerleading totally does. Mind you, cheerleading on the sidelines of games not so much, but the competitions totally do. If "Bring It On" is anything to go by then holy sh*t you guys are awesome.
In your opinion. IN my opinion sports are things that require athleticism. Just because there's no offense or defense doesn't mean there's not a competition going on so... yeah. In my opinion it's silly to classify them by positions on the team. Feel free to classify them your own way. This is just mine.
As I said before, that's your opinion and that's fine, I respect it. It's just not my opinion. I believe they are sports, that's just me. You don't have to agree, I'm not trying to convince you. And you arguing about it isn't going to do anything to change my mind so please see that I'm respecting your opinion and recognizing it as a perfectly valid and equal one to my own and return the favor.
Yes.
They compete, they sweat, they train, and they're athletic as heck. I don't see how it ISN'T considered a sport.
+1
Not sure why some guys on here think they're the end all in opinions. It's a question based on opinions, not a question asked for someone to attempt to appear smart
No, it's a sport here
That's why dudeman isn't a gymnast...not everyone can be one. It takes skill and patience to improve.
Professionally speaking, the tallest gymnast was about 5'3 or 5'3 1/2, I forget her name but she's from Plano, Texas although she's of Russian descent. The shorter the better.
But that's not why you aren't a gymnast bro. You also claim modeling takes no skill. If that were true, there wouldn't be girls and guys who spend their lives trying to be Olympic athletes or models
Female gymnasts are. But there are male gymnasts who are upto 6'3". How tall are you, dudeman?
Either way, I don't see how you NOT being a gymnast has any relevance to do with the fact that gymnastics is classified as a sport by sport associations all over the world. Whether or not you agree with that is up to you, but it doesn't change reality.
My school had two different cheerleading squads. One went to all the games and the others were called competition cheerleaders. The latter I would say is a sport, but the former was an activity. I think my school was a little weird with that, so this may not make sense to other people.
I think a judge somewhere declared it was not a sport.
