Why do plus-sized women think they won't look feminine if they lose weight?

I was talking to my aunt last night and she's been expressing interest in losing weight, but she says that she's afraid she will loose her curves and have a boy body. I've heard a lot of other women say something similar.

I personally think women look more feminine and more curvy at a healthy weight. I dunno, I just think it brings out women's curves better but maybe that's just me.

She says her man loves her curves and that she's afraid he won't be as attracted to her.

We're southerners so I don't know if this is just a southerner thing.

She's concerned about losing hips, butt, and boobs, but she will probably lose weight there too but since her waist will be tiny, it's going to make her look more curvy.
