I loved it. Especially the animation after the countdown at the beginning. The sort of fairytale beginning of the River Thames, leading to central London.
I loved how they portrayed the transformation from rural England through the industrial revolution to the present day. However, the music scene went on for a bit too long I think. I really liked the music as well (up until the technology age) and I'm glad they showed the inventor of the world wide web because 'This is for everyone'.
I wish the camera didn't keep showing views of the stadium. I wanted to see the stage, actors and dancers more.
I looooooooooooooooooved the beginning. The forging of the rings was fantastic! I loved the Industrial Revolution part, and the nightmares/literature part. It was sheer brilliance. I have to say I was really annoyed with the Post WWII culture part (the girl and guy finding one another), and of course that went on for quite some time, so I wasn't thrilled with that. But overall, I thought it was great! I loved the youth lighting the torch.
I'd have to rewatch the Beijing Opening Ceremony to be sure, but I think I liked London more. Beijing was just big, while London was full of culture and history.
Y'know, I wasn't too upbeat about the girl and guy finding each other either. And, tbh, I couldn't actually believe they kissed in front of 80,000 people. Especially when the storyline shows they only met on that night and all of a sudden they are in a relationship lol. But the forging of the rings and the youth lighting the torch was sheer brilliance.
Agreed!
I avoided it mostly :P
I was happy that they demonstrated our child slavery though :D

It had its good points and bad points. My favorite part was the transition between pastoral England to the Industrial age, and then the "forging" of the ring. (Insert LotR joke here. Har har har.) After that it seemed a bit jumbled and confusing, though entertaining enough. I liked their music choices. And I enjoyed when they went into the 70s in the music part. Mostly because I heard the TARDIS. I swear to god I heard it.
Love the "har har har".
It was more about British than the olympics. They did an awesome job with the lighting, singing, acting, decorations, but still.
What's wrong with that? The Olympics is in London this year, so it's only fitting the opening ceremony portrayed British history and culture.
I thought it was pretty good too. I loved the rings bit and I liked when all the kids jumped around on the beds, ha ha :D
i was confused the whole time... it was random.
But the queen parachuting in was pretty awesome. NGL.
