Can you recommend a protein powder that not only is effective but tastes pretty decent?
Thanks :)
I realize this doesn't answer your question specifically but I would like to educate you briefly on what I know in this subject matter.
Just so you know those protein powders are designed to help you gain muscle not lose weight. The best thing you could do while working out is eat fewer carbs and more fats and cholesterol based foods like eggs and processed meats. The reason for this is fats are much easier to digest than carbs and cholesterol is the fundamental building block for the growth hormones in your body which you need if you're gonna replace fat with muscle. If you have the time I would suggest you check out a documentary called Fat Head. It explains the diet plan I suggested in greater depth and is very easy to follow. Not to mention there is no Bias.
First of all...that is one FUNNY ass description! :-D
But ok...i get your point. You want a brand that tastes good.

Almost all protein shakes are gonna have that "supplement" taste to them, but some have that taste less than others do.
From the brands I've tried, I like the brand Dymatize. It's a mid-tier price (not cheap but not a top-dollar kind either), and they have A LOT of flavors (chocolate peanut butter; hell yeah).
Even if you don't go for that brand...FYI; vanilla flavors tend to taste the most "chalky" overall, so avoid vanilla if you're paranoid about that. :)
Protein shakes really aren't the best for weight loss. They are great for building muscle mass though. Another downside is that they have no fiber, so you'll just be hungry again soon after eating them.

Monster milk chocolate by Cytosports-- and use whole milk and a blender. It's easily one of the best tasting protein drinks you can get (I actually want to drink it all day XD). Or otherwise get muscle milk (vanilla) premixed drinks (they have low calorie versions too). Also, AMP amplified anabolic whey chocolate is a good taste even mixed in water.
But the idea behind protein for weight loss is hunger satisfaction.. protein doesn't directly cause any extra calories burns. Though it does contribute significantly to recovery and growth-- allowing you, potentially, to go harder next time.
What brand did she recommend? Six star? Cause six star taste horrid.
If you want to do weight loss and protein, I would recommend using casein protein as a meal substitute. Casein is a slow-digesting protein so it keeps you full longer. My favorite brand and flavor is Optimum Nutrition's chocolate.
I wouldn't bother during weight loss unless you want to pay for BCAAs.
Protein powders are only considered beneficial for weight loss if they include amino-acides
Protein = a chain of amino acids.. so all of them?
