I've been very regular with the regular gym sessions every day
Regular gym gives you the shape and muscles but one needs power, know how to use that power, flexibility and agility too
However, I've also been considering training in some form of dance / aerobics and also kickboxing.
I won't give up on regular gymming and time won't afford me doing 2 of the other things. So guess I'll sure go for Kick Boxing. I've done a month's learning on that but need to fit in time and when that happens I'll sure do it. That will give not only power but also balance, stability, flexibility and also shape up the body all apart from keeping one fit :)
I'll agree with 'WeaponZero' on the 'agility ladder' drills too - it's not only the in thing but also recommended by quite a few trainers. I think I'll do that too apart from Kick Boxing :D

Agility ladder drills. It burns a ton of calories, improves coordination, and it's more or less just hopscotch for grownups.
Sandbag training for resistance. Also suspension training.

Crossfit is great and a lot of fun. Look for some crossfit gyms in your area and try a class.
I also like to mix and match and come up with my own types of exercises.
