How long does it take for skin to retighten after losing a significant amount of weight?

I've heard that it depends on age, and that the older you get, the less likely you are to ever have normal skin again. I'm 24 now, and am down from 335 to 305 in 2 months, and I plan to keep on going to about 190. Does anyone here have any personal experience losing significant amounts of weight, who can tell me if their skin ever retightened or if it was loose forever?

I'm talking about the actual skin itself, not stretch marks, I know it'll take time and special lotions to fade those.

At that age you're unlikley to get back to normal after losing over 40lbs in short period of time.

For men it's even a bit harder, because your skin isn't quite as elastic. However if you lose it slowly you shouldn't have carzy amount of lose skin in a year or two from now. But truth is your skin starts losing its ability to regenerate itself at round 21, from there on it goes downhill.

A friend of mine lost 50 lbs when he was 16 and even he had lose skin for 4 years. Even though he was young and an athlete (working out at least once a day). In his case you didn't really see it, but def feel it. You didn't see his 6pack because of it, but that was not a problem. About 8 years later I'd imagine it's gonna be even harder though.

You're likley to recover better in some areas than others. Where you build a lot of muscle you'll probably have less issues than where you don't. That's why so many women have trouble with their boobs when losing weight

That's pretty much what I assumed. My brother lost about 80 pounds when he was a teenager and he had loose skin on his stomach for several years. I'm sure that my skin is much less elastic now, at 24. I am lifting weights as part of my diet and exercise program, so hopefully I'll be able to build up some muscle to replace the fat and fill that gap under the skin some. At this point I'll be happy to just lose the weight, I just hope the loose skin isn't too much of a turn-off for girls.

with that much weight loss you will have some loose skin. But it's better to be healthy, you can always get surgery down the road.

depends how tall you are, the taller you are the less skin thatll be hanging
