The half life for caffeine aka the amount of time it takes for half of the chemical to leave your body is 2.5 to 4.5 hours. This means you can still have effects from the remaining caffeine for 5 to 9 hours. The effects should not be anywhere near the boost it gives you in the initial couple hours. Normally, it is said to avoid caffeine for 5 hours before bedtime.
Cocaine has a half life of about 24 hours and takes about 48 hours to completely leave your system. Only added this because that's what I thought this post was referring to

Most likely it wasn't the coke but what you ate. Some foods are a neuro stimulator and makes you not tired. No matter how much coke you have unless you have a serious medical condition is going to last that long in your system. Foods like bacon for example can keep you up.
From my experience with caffeine, sweetie, anything after 6 at nite, will "put you through the roof" for the rest of the evening. Try no caffeine, even decaf beverages after the "magic hour," that you can easily fall asleep with. If it should happen again, try a little warm milk. Or even herbal tea. THAT, and "reading a bed time story," should make you drowsy. Sweet dreams..:))xx
I suppose it depends on a few things - your metabolism, for one. The amount of food you ate, what you ate (what and how much could determine how much coke was "soaked up" as it were.
Coke doesn't last at all in my system, neither does coffee or green tea. I can drink a double espresso and sleep like a log an hour later.

I think it depends on the person and how often you drink it. Like when I first started drinking diet coke I would be bouncing off the walls for hours. Now, I don't really feel a difference.
