how bad is it and can it be easily transmitted?how bad is it compared to full blown hiv?

It can be easily ransmitted, yes: one can get it from drinking on a glass or cup that wasn't well washed.

But about every adult has the (dormant) virus in his body. It only flares up to a sore in case of fever, stress, extreme temperature, sunburn. A bit more here: link Anti viral creams like Acyclovir help to suppress it temporarily in a few days. It's relatively innocent, as long as it's kept in check.

H1 is related to H2.

No oral sex then, of course. No touching of lips and sexual parts (or eyes!) without washing hands between and after.

a coldsore is herpes type one but it can easily transmit to your mouth and to your genitals when she has a sore and kisses/gives oral.

herpes type 2 is the standard genital herpes and its about the same but people say having type 2 herpes makes you less likely to catch type 1. theyre look and act the exact same except one is mouth and/or genitals and the other is genitals

not sure what HIV has to do with it, did you knoe one in 4 Americans have herpes that they know about? even more could unknowingly have it

Are you seriously comparing HIV and herpes? They aren't remotely similar. Herpes is nothing compared to HIV, but can be transmitted very easily, avoid the area until it clears up and you won't get it.

Yes it is easily transmitted. To be honest, I don't think I could date someone who had that. I would be so worried. I recently found out that a cold sore can give you genital herpes if you receive oral. And the worst part about it is that you can't always see the cold sore.

Herpes doesn't really have a big health impact -- it's more of a social stigma. At it's worst, a person may occasionally have cold sores (type I) or sores on their genitals. But they are short lasting and people don't often have these after they've had the disease for a while. I've read that many people with herpes eventually don't really have any complications at all most of the time, as long as they're healthy.

Full blown HIV will eventually kill you, generally painfully.

HIV is not related to the herpes cold sores. Avoid oral sex while the sore is present. With vaginal sex use a condom every time. Have him get tested for other stds also.
