Are dog owners ultimately selfish and self-centred?

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen someone walking their dog without a leash, even though there are signs nearby that specifically state that dogs must be on a leash at all times. When I point out to the irresponsible twerps that the dog may attack someone or run out onto the road and get squashed, they think it's a big joke. In certain parts of Australia, many councils have introduced fines for people who don't clean up after their dog poops on the grass. Most people obey this, because they don't want to be fined, but it says a lot that laws like that had to be introduced in the first place.

Not "ultimately".
I only "keep" my two dogs after I had made sure that around my home a leash isn't required nor necessary. I picked 'my' place with this specifically in mind.
When they were babies I cleaned up after them; meanwhile they know the place in the nearby bushes.
And: some "dog lovers" indeed don't know when it's better to NOT 'have' a dog.

Dog people are trash. They leave their shit everywhere. Bark bark bark. Smelly dirty people that let animals lick their plates rub their asses on their furniture. Just plain trash

It says a lot about individual owners. Not all dog owners. Having been a professional working dog trainer for decades I have seen almost everything. If you spot an on obnoxious dog guaranteed the obnoxious owner (s) is around somewhere.

Yes they all seem to be under the illusion that everyone loves dogs. When I for one am sick of avoiding the waste on the pavement and listening to unnecessary barking throughout the day when the owners are out

I wouldn't call them self-centered, but the dog worship in the West is so ridiculous. A child goes missing and nobody gives a shit. A dog goes missing and social media is just ablaze with posts and shares and pleading to find that goddamed dog at all costs. It's like India with its cow worship. It's zany.

off leash dogs is terrible. so many things can go wrong i most of the time don't clean up after the dogs i walk. there's something fun about the naughty feeling of leaving it on the ground

I mean leashing is great and all until some 4 year old with shit parents starts whacking the dog and the dog bites the piece of shit. The dog then gets put down because the little fuckers parents suck.
