Do you prefer that people gift you money or a physical present they took the time to make or buy?

Unless it’s something that the giver thinks is particularly meaningful to me, I’d rather just get money, haha. I’d prefer to be able to get exactly what I want instead of someone else’s guess. I more often than not want clothing for a gift, and I am very particular about what I buy, how it fits, etc. I can’t leave that in the hands of an amateur😂
Money, almost nothing you would possibly gift has as much value as what I would have bought with the money.
That is what I usually do, I save it up until the moment I really want to buy something which this time is probably going to be a VR headset. Those are $500 and its going to help me exercise in a fun way as I continue my health journey in 2024. If its other people gifting individual items you usually get a whole bunch of cheaper items you don't really have much use for that they think would be a fun gift idea. While if everyone bundles together I can get something I really want or put it towards my savings.

For me, giving gifts means that the person receiving something from me is important to me. Whether it's a family member, a friend, or just someone acquainted through someone close to me, I always put effort into making what I give directed at that person. So that they know they are important to me.
From this perspective, giving money doesn't make sense...
Oh my goodness... this is a question I've been hoping someone would ask ❤️
Present. As it’s more thoughtful and another person has truly put a thought into it.
neither, i hate receiving anything i didn't get myself 😬
I don't like receiving gifts at all, but honestly if I did, I'd prefer a gift. Anyone can give money. And it's true that everyone knows best what I need and want most, but if that was the case wouldn't things be boring to just always be exchanging money with people back and forth? It's nice to see what people thought you might like and the effort they put in to choose that specific gift for you. It genuinely is the thought that counts.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't take a lottery win over a cruise ship though 😂
what they need and want most****
While the present could be thoughtful, any woman would know that just making a special meal or planning a date night would be an amazing gift. I'm a minimalist. Things are clutter and I'm kinda loaded with cash because I own everything I have except for one of my properties that isn't paid off just yet. Tangible gifts are bribes the way I see it.
I like giving money.. I have 3 nephews I gave them all $200 dollars each for Christmas. You can't go wrong with money lol.
As for myself either one, I don't mind. Sometimes the gift is really good and not something you were willing to buy for yourself.
Either is fine, just be thoughtful there.
When given money, if pitied or immature manner, I'll just donate it right away. Unless I'm dying.
If a present, something I can use is okay. A pen, a wallet, even food or beverages count.. but something I like or don't mind, not something you like and prefer.
I’d take gift cards to my favorite card stores if not money. If u know me you’d know what I like tho 😂
I prefer a present. It shows they cared enough to think about me and what I like before getting the present.
They’re both fine. Gift cards are kind of senseless as they’re inferior versions of currency.
Present - I don't need the money, so I'd rather have the memories of the gift
Cash is always nice but I much prefer gifts especially those ones that show the person really knows me and cares.
We do money in house household. Presents between hubby and me.
If they know me well enough to give me a good gift I would love that but otherwise their is no shame in giving money. I think it’s better option if you don’t know what to get someone
I appreciate just the thought. The fact they took the time and thought about me. Whatever they give me is just icing on that cake.
Nobody has surprised me with a gift in so many years, I can't even remember the last time. I miss it.
Presents, because then I feel like they actually cared about getting me something
I got gifted money today and i prefer it this way.
It can go either way tbh
Money is never wrong but i dont need presents😅
