Do you think with time he could change his mind about marriage?

My boyfriend has been married once. It ended in a really bad divorce, and his ex got most rights to their children. And now, his kids dislike him a lot. (brainwashed by his ex)
They divorced about 8 years ago, and he hasn't really been in a serious relationship since me, except for like one I think that lasted a year.

He said " As of right now, all I can say is no to marriage. I don't know if my mind will change in the future or not, but I don't see that happening."

I've always dreamed of getting married 🥺

Even if he never changes his mind, I will still continue the relationship. I love him more than a paper certificate of marriage.

With time, this relationship could change his mind

Probably not. Most people don't change for relationships; they have to want to change on their own accord. Why would you start dating a guy who doesn't want kids or marriage if those are both important to you? These are first date questions. Now you have set yourself up for a lot of heartache. Either you be miserable because you aren't getting what you want, he will because you are, or you will both be after you break up.

I think it's highly unlikely he will change his mind. I could be wrong, and if so he would be a statistical outlier. Because the older people get the less likely they are to change their mind. The more pain they have gone through the less likely they are to change their mind. And both factors apply to him. Plus if he's in a good relationship with you he might feel like getting married would ruin it. Even though you don't feel that way. So I would not count on it at all

Does it mean your boyfriend is in his 30s? If so, him changing mind is improbable because our personalities and preferences form mainly till around 25 and after that we are generally formed in our opinions and preferences.
Plus if he already experienced bad marriage then it would take A LOT of effort to change his mind.

I am being brutally honest here. You didn't provide us enough information to give you an actual accurate answer. Which I understand because you wanna keep your privacy private. You know him better than us. The best I can give you is I have a brother who has been divorced twice and could not pull the trigger on his last 2 most recent fiancées. Everybody is different though. Who knows though anything is possible.

Don't stay with someone expecting them to change. If being married is important to you, you need to find someone else. You are only 18? And he's what? 30? He's way too old for you and he's already left behind one mess. You have only heard one side of the story, and have no way of knowing if anything he has said about his ex is true. End this and date someone close to your age.

I love him for who he is and the age doesn't matter. Go be salty somewhere else, we all know you're alone and your mom's basement
